Im thinking of starting to play an mmo. World of warcraft, lord of the rings, and warhammer seem to be the most popular ones out there. Can someone who has had experience with these mmos tell me which one is the best one. I like pvp and questing equally
Cut out LOTRO, I hear it is PvE focused, so you probably just got bare bones PvP, although its community is smaller so it might be better.

I don't know much about LotRO, so I'm only talking about WAR and WoW. I
f you like PvP and PvE equally, it's pretty much a stalemate. WoW's PvE is better while WAR's PvP is much better. I personally went with WAR because its universe and graphics are a whole lot cooler.

I have to say wow because PvE is just so amazing. But PvP it lacks but not a lot. WAR from what i tried at a friends house is more PvP, and the PvE lacks some. Sad thing is i can't play another one these game cause i got burn out on it when i played wow for awhile. Plus wow eats your sould =o!
WAR's PvE is almost none existent, it seriously sucks.
I expect to see flame wars soon from the fanboys from those games.
Well, they all seem like pretty much the same thing, really. You know, a fantasy universe in the past, generic MMO material. I think FP will be able to handle this topic pretty well.
As long as you don't bring EVE into this.
i've played all three, i agree lotr is much more pve focused, warhammer is pvp focused, and wow has abit of both but it pushes towards pve. Another this is about teamwork, warhammer is fundamentally a teamworking game with public quests and open world pvp everywhere, world of warcraft has alot of solo play especially in duals and with the amount of crowd control each class gets. Pick what you like the most, or try them with the 10 day free trials, i guess that would be the best thing.

There is PvP in LOTRO but it isn't easy to find. So its not like you can do it all the time. But its there.
A lot of people say Warhammer has excellent PvP but I think Warcraft has just as good, if not better PvP than Warhammer.
If you plan on playing casually then go with Warhammer. If you want to play more frequently then Warcraft seems like a better choice. However both games are quite good for a newbie to MMO's.
I didnt like Warhammer very much because I dont like PVP..
And WoW got boring..
Never tried LOTRO, And the only MMo I'm now interrested in is Fallen Earth.

No the diamond of eve is the sheer faced cliff of a learning curve.
WaR has no PvE and excellent PvP, WoW has excellent PvE and mediocre PvP. No idea about Lotro
I'd say go for WoW, I've been playing for years and keep coming back, it's just fantastic.
Lotro is more pve oriented and in PVP you turn into some monsters that you can upgrade trough PVP
If you take the time to play, and learn your character, and play in battlegrounds and other PvP events, WoW is very good, Warhammer is more for casual players, who only play maybe one or two hours a day. I didn't like it, got boring super fast.

This. Eve is heavily competitive and if you don't like pvp, there are still many things you can do PvE-wise. Such as running missions, mining and manufacturing.

Couple of them are, but if you zerg in AB your team is gonna lose badly.

WoW is a decent balance of pvp and pve although probably pve is its strong point.
War has very good pvp system, although from what I've heard it suffers from the usual bad unbalances between classes.
Lotro I really don't know much about, although a while ago I read something in Pcgamer in which one of the reviewers returned to the game to try it again and found it was much better and enjoyed it.
EVE be prepared for a stupidly huge learning curve, but if you can make it through that then it can be enjoyable.

I recall LOTRO having excellent PVP, although there were the usual gripes with imbalanced competition. Mainly, freeps could bitch and moan at the devs and get whatever the fuck they wanted, be it creep debuffs or whatever else.
EVE is boring.
Eve Online can become extremely boring on your own, and it takes a miracle to find a good corp. But when you find that one perfect corp for you, it wil dramatically increase in exitement, and nothing will make you shit your pants than seeing the red flash on the screen whenever a hostile player shows up next to you.
