I was thinking of posting this in the video megathread, but I decided that this "review" was far to shit to be placed even among those. So without further adue, the worst Minecraft review (and possibly the worst review I've ever seen) [URL]http://www.blisteredthumbs.net/2012/03/hog60/[/URL] Alright, I will agree with SOME valid points he makes. 1. The default textures are terrible. Junkboy sucks ass. But I'll talk about this in a minute. 2. The combat is painfully boring and un-involving so far. He's right in saying there little complexity over "push button, watch thing die" 3. Coding this in Java was a bad idea. The game kills a PC faster than lighting it on fire and causes the game to run very poorly, as well as making it difficult to add new things to the game. However, almost all of what this idiot says is invalid. For one, he complains about the graphics. While I agree the default textures really need improving and that external texture packs shouldn't be considered because they weren't made by the developer and in a fair review only the developer's content really counts, most of his argument is blatantly stupid and undermines what Minecraft is about. He complains that the game looks "blocky". Well no shit it's blocky, it has to be blocky, that's the only way the premise could even work in game form. There isn't a way to make realistic deformable terrain so voxel's are just fine. He also says the game lacks good AI. However, I'll give him leeway on this one because the video was made long before the AI updates. The thing that really gets on my nerves is that he complains that the game is boring. While I agree that say, making a statue of Chewbacca in game is boring because there isn't anything you can really do with it afterwards, you CAN actually build useful and fun things and one of the most interesting parts of MC is figuring out ways to bend the blocks to make cool and useful structures, like using redstone contraptions or pistons. Clearly, he's just a dumbass who lacks the ability to construct things. His problem is that he seems to think the premise of the game is for the game to provide the fun. Minecraft is like Garrysmod, it provides the tools to have fun and lets you make your own fun, therefore giving an experience many people can play their own way. Anyways, I would like to hear your opinions on this review as well. It seems to me he's just trying to dislike a popular game to seem "cool" or some shit. He did not make the art for minecraft, except for the minecraft logo you see on the main menu and the Mojang logo when the game starts.

Minecrafts AI is still crappy. Yes, it is better but it now makes creepers a bit too smart. I wanted to kill my friend using it but it just went NO I WILL NOT ENTER THIS HOLE and then went around it... Also about that it is coded in Java. Java is fine, Minecraft is bad. If Notch would have been able to actually code in Java and not fuck shit up and see if it works, then get a hacky way to fix it, then everything would be fine.

People complain about notch far too much, and 99% of the programmers who criticise him on his "poor coding" have never and will never produce something as successful as minecraft, or even as technically complex.

He made lots of great points. I agree with him for the most part, and minecraft is a bad game.

Who cares what this guy has to say? Most of us have already played minecraft and decided whether or not we liked it a long time ago.

I love to play minecraft, but that's what I make out of the game. The game it self is evidently terribly made and if someone else didn't have my creativity or dedication to the game they wouldn't enjoy it.

If not, then sorry Junkboy.

In the end credits it says "Graphics made by Markus Persson and Jens Bergenstern" I actually read the credits so I'm probably the only one who knows.

How would junkboy have done the textures if the textures were made before Notch even formed a company?

I just play Minecraft for the factions servers. He makes a lot of good points, but takes them way too far and misunderstands the point of the game. Also, the game is terribly unoptimized. It isn't poorly coded, but it does not run well on a lot of older computers. And for such low resolutions graphics that kind of disappointing.
