Undoubtedly one of the greatest games on XBL. It's ONLY XBL. Anyways. Toy Soldiers is a great tower defense type game from Signal Studios. It is played from the perspective of toy miniature WWI-era soldiers. Your objective is to defend your toy box from the enemy. If more than 20 enemy units or a single boss enters your toy box, you lose the match. The campaign is comprised of 12 missions. Once you beat the campaign, you can play it over as the Germans. Survival mode is also unlocked, in which there is an infinite supply of enemies akin to L4D's last stand. Multiplayer is also available through xbox live and local split screen. Multiplayer includes the ability to send forth infantry and NPC vehicles to try and overwhelm the other player. You can control any vehicle or turret in the game. As far as I know, the infantry are not controllable. I have not tried MP, in which they might be. Vehicles include tanks such as the MKI and A7V as well as aircraft such as the Sopwith Camel and Gotha GV. Turrets are comprised of machine guns, howitzers, mortars, AA guns, and misc weapons such as flamethrowers. There are three of each turret type per side. The art style of the game is great. Enemy troops burst into plastic parts when killed, the child's room in which the diorama is set in can be seen in the background, the weapons are all on display stands, and the tanks have little wind up cranks sticking out the side. Screenshots and more information can be found here: http://www.signalstudios.net/toysoldiers/?page_id=166 BUY THIS GAME.
This looks fantastic. If I had a 360, I'd definitely buy this.
Is it out yet?
Is that the same game that's on Facebook? http://apps.facebook.com/matchdefense/ It was on Kotaku lately, both facebook and XBL help to their selected party, so it's the first time a facebook and a Xbox game cooperate. Oh my god. I downloaded the demo for shits and giggles because my friend told me to do it, I never actually thought it'd be good enough to try. Fucking want
This looks so fucking awesome :buddy:
This is an example of a WW1 game done right.
How much does it cost? In MS?
1200
Thanks, pal.
Really enjoyed the trial(albeit short). I think the 1200 MS point price tag is a bit steep, so I think I'll wait for a sale or something.
Looks like i have to buy some microsoft points then.
Wow that shit actually looked insanely sweet.
It's a great game, but can be hard as a motherfucker at times. The ability to jump into certain units and your towers makes all the difference in the battles. It's less tower defence, more RTS at certain points.
Another game on my list that i have to save up to get!
Anyone wanna play this with me on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday? (i can't play on the weekdays :saddowns:) if you do add me VitalSuitOnline I'm still a noob at this game, bombers are a pain in the ass to fly and flamethrower chemical soldiers are pure ownage. The 3rd chemical soldier upgrade looks useless to me.
I would get this if it were co-op.
I just wish infantry had more of a tendency to fight each other online

If so, what would be the difference between each of them.. They are flamethrowers.. What? And 6 different howitzers? Mortars? AA Guns? Doesn't make much sense
This looks bloody amazing, too bad I don't have a 360.
He means there are six different turret types. I think.
Just played the trial, it's awesome although the demo is short. This is an instant buy.
I play the FUCK outta this on facebook, it's cool how they sync together.

I downloaded the demo on a whim and then was floored by how great it was. And then my wallet was lighter.
I thought this thread was about that 90s film and the terrible game that came with it. Pleasantly surprised though. I would totally get this if it was on Steam... it's too much of an effort to go on the 360, I barely ever use it any more and it looks like playing it with a controller would be a bit of a phaff.
It reminded me of a game on the N64 called Sarges Heroes or something, where you play as little green army men. Really original game, will probably buy it.
Looks awesome, although like already mentioned, it would be a lot better on pc. I don't have live so I can forget online matches. Still great game, going to buy few points tomorrow.
I sort of want it, but I'm about sick of tower defense games.
