It's very strange, when I boot up a game like Half Life one or TFC, they won't even get to the menu, just boot up and then shut down. What's going on?

You have to allow the exe through DEP. Hold on, I think I can find a guide.
Open the Start menu.
A) Right click on Computer and click Properties.
3. Click on Advanced system settings.(in upper left green area)
4. Click on the Continue button in the UAC prompt.
5. Click on the Settings button under Performance section.
6. Click on the Data Execution Prevention tab.
Then just find the main exe for a goldsource game and allow it in. You don't need to restart your pc.
