Took me a few hours and restarted the car/chopper mission about a hundred times, but I managed to do it. Was actually a lot of fun to play the game carrying the Gnome with you all the way. Made the game a lot more challenging and also noticed a lot of things I didn't see before.
I hope this post inspires more gamers to get the achievment.

Protip: You don't need to take the gnome into the Antlion caves for the extract. Just put it in the corner where Alyx is and it will be there when you return.
That was the hardest achievement for Ep2 yet. I still have to do the "Payback" (?) one, where you have to kill a Hunter with it's own flechettes (Still can't figure out how to do so), and the grubs one. The most grubs I got was a tad over 300, leaving about 30 left, and I could never find them.
TAU, I got it by taking a physics object and holding it up infront of its face, but before you do that make sure to get alot, ALOT of flechettes on it, then hold the physics object in it's face and repeat until achievement is given.

Wish I knew that before I did it! Running away from whatever that big antlion is called carrying a gnome was a bitch.

This will become one of the easiest ways of killing Hunters for you.
You just have to grab a piece of wood or anything that doesn't explode/fall apart under too much damage, get some flechettes on it and shoot it at the Hunter. Should vaporize it.

2.) Let it collect flechettes.
3.) Wait until they are almost ready to explode.
4.) Shoot at hunter.

A friend left the Gnome with Alyx in the mission that she snipes from above while you find your way to the car and when he got back to Alyx, the gnome was gone. I wasn't going to waste time trying to see if the gnome stays where I left him.

Grab a prop and make it shoot the fleches on it, when they're about to blow throw the prop and bam! Achievement.
