Any way to play SMOD:Tactical without hl2? - Games

You can't get source mods without source games. End of. Counter Strike costs the least so I'd go for that as it also includes all the HL2 models.

In the requirements page of the website it says it needs Half life 2 and CS:S.

And you can get it for free if your an Nvidia/ATi user. HL2DM doesn't come with SDK either. Furthermore, you WILL need HL2 because SMOD needs the HL2 maps.

You can play mods by buying hl2dm which is currently the cheapest source game. [editline]11:09PM[/editline] Buying it comes with the sdk.

Just buy HL2, it's a great standalone game.

I forgot about the ATi offer, downloading the games now.

Just change the appid to the CS:S one from hl2. Works perfectly.

Wombo, if you want to try the Smod features out, but do not have HL2, someone ported the S-mod attacks and weapons into Garrys Mod. NPC's are another story. Personally adding to Gmod seems easier then another mod added to your Steam list. I don't even know if you have Gmod, but I assume so, otherwise IDK why I am here. Before owning HL2, I could of told you HL2 maps could be extracted out of the gcf files via GCFscape, and played directly in Gmod via the maps folder, however I should mention having the HL2 demo, HL2 Lost Coast and the other goodies from the Nvidia promo, but eventually purchasing HL2 Deathmatch by mistake in order to get the discount package for Ep1, Ep2, CSS and Gmod Steam bundled for 39.99 USD (deal may be expired now.)I don't know if this sounds like theft, but because I already got the HL2 story in there thanks to HL2DmCoOp, it does not make sense to buy what I already have, games have to run off the HL2 engine without HL2, anyway. While this is not the same, before buying HL2 Episode Two, I had changed the Game Info text script that mod Missing Information (which is really a HL2 story based addon) was able to run based off the 2007 Source Engine test, and before I even bought CSS, I had another mod that required CSS, but I simply changed the Game Info script, so I met the requirements, however its a new decade and the rules may be different. However, no one seemed to play it anymore, so I got rid of the mod, which was a racing game, which really has nothing to do with Counter Strike. I am sure though, the catch is you need to have bought a Source game to run a mod, as is the rule with access to the Source SDK. However, do not be surprised if the loopholes I mentioned above has changed for this decade deeming them obsolete.

i got same problem cuz when the game was there (in store) i was playing it with undead patch but now the hl2 is gone from stores and i dont have the money for it i cant play anymore cuz my steam kept crashing i had to delete it (undead patch) and i had smod on it and people how have it will know its to fun and addictive to stop and if someone would plz help me u would have my thanks (PS.i have hl2 deadthmatch/lost coast) [highlight](User was permabanned for this post ("Horrible post/begging/spam" - BANNED USER))[/highlight]
