Well ever since I've had Day of Defeat and Day of Defeat Source and saw the incredible lack of interest for the game in the community of FP, I figured maybe it was because the lack of understanding the game was about.
I indeed have used the search engine to look this up and there's no trace of this game.
I think it deserves it's own megathread if CSS has it's own.
Here is some information about the games:
Day of Defeat is a 3D multiplayer shooter that simulates squad-level infantry combat between the adversaries of World War II's European Theatre; the Allies or the Axis Powers. The goal is to complete various mission objectives.
Players can choose between the Allied armies (American and/or British armies, depending on the map) or the Axis armies. In Day of Defeat:Source there are only the American and German armies.
A round begins with two opposing teams starting simultaneously in their respective spawn area of a map. A round ends when one team accomplishes all of its objectives.
Player casualties become reinforcements which are supplied according to a timer. The reinforcements originate at spawn and can be composed of anywhere from 1 soldier to the entire team. The reinforcement timer is usually between 10-20 seconds, but this time may vary from server to server.
Like other Half-Life mods, Day of Defeat tracks each player's accomplishment in team objectives, how many enemies each player has eliminated and how many times each player has died. The game also tallies these statistics for the entire team; this reflects the team's score which is primarily based on objectives.
After many rounds, the game ends when a set time limit expires, and the team with the most objectives achieved is the winning team regardless of kills or casualties, except in the case where both teams have not achieved any objectives or are tied in the objective score. The scoreboard is displayed and the game is restarted with another map.

There are numerous versions of DoD
All of which are equally fun.
I really hope this thread helps people recognize Day of Defeat.
If this was created already and I wasn't aware, please link it to me by PM so I can snip this thread.
Thank you
Add 3.1.
3.1? What do you mean by that.
Is 3.1 a version of DOD?
You clearly don't know anything about DoD.
You don't have to flame. I just don't know what 3.1 is.
OK I looked it up and I found it.
I love Dod! one think that I miss in dod:s is the German Gewehr 41.

i played it on a free weekend it was fun enough
Yeah, a few months ago, I had the Episode pack, so I bought the orange box (for TF2, HL2, and Portal, it was cheaper) and I had a extra copy of EP1, and EP2... and I decided, why not ask facepunch for EP1, and EP2, for DOD:S? And I got it, then somehow, when the WAR! Update came out, my Steam glitched, and I got another extra copy for EP1 and EP2, don't know why.
Yeah, it's awesome, I love going behind somewhere, and waiting for enemy to pass by, then I shoot 'em a bit, then punch em, they die :D
still got that extra copy of ep2?
I hate DoD, the original one.
I hate DoD, the original one.

why, is it because you suck?
Lawl in the original DOD you CAN'T suck.
It's like 3 shots from an auto gun will end an enemy in a few seconds
You don't have to flame. I just don't know what 3.1 is.
how was that flaming he just said you probably don't know that much about the dod series
he just said it in a conceded way as I read it.
Him: Pfft I'm all knowing about DoD you know NOTHING
I just think of it as flaming oh well I'm at a good start. I'm in my DoD addict phase so I might learn a thing or 2
Day of Defeat: Source
0.2 hrs last two weeks / 48.2 hrs on record

yup you sure are addicted.
Ahem does that goddamn matter? I still enjoy the subject of DoD
i wouldn't call 48.2 hours addicted.
I said I'm getting back into the habit of playing it.
I loved DoD:S, I just have too many games at the moment and I never really play it now because I'm not longer in a clan. When I was in a clan though, it was all about DoD:S, CS:S and BF2. It was probably one of the more fun games to play with a clan.
DoD:S is the only Valve game I don't own.
I used to play in the 29th ID Realism Unit for DoD 3.1. It's probably the only way I can actually enjoy playing DoD 3.1 casually since most servers I find have some really lame mods or are spammed to death by morons.
I actually believe it took skill to use a rifle in DoD 3.1.
I find DOD:S more enjoyable than TF2 and CS:S personally, I just like the whole game, nothing in particular
True
