Notes: I am not the best writer/describer in the world. In fact, I think this thread is horrible at telling what I think of Two Worlds II. I'm sure i am leaving a whole ton of information out as well. Also note that this is probably a biased description. And before you say that it has been delayed until January, it has been released in the U.K, however, the worldwide release is not until January 2011.
Skip to below the line for a TL;DR.
When I first picked up Two Worlds II, I had no idea what to expect. I asked myself, "Will this be disappointing like the first, or will this be a whole new game?". Personally, I enjoyed the first for what it's worth, so this may be a biased opinion on the game.
The game installed rather quickly, and I eagerly loaded the game up. The typical company logo scenes popped up first, then a rather surprising intro cutscene appears. It told me that this game was serious business. You can view the cutscene here:

After the intro cutscene was over, I was hyped. I knew this was going to be good from the start. You were prompted with an in-game main menu, which showed off your character. You can circulate around your character with a click+drag maneuver with your mouse. The main menu looks pretty nice. However, when you adjust visual options and even create your character, navigating can be a bit messy. The way they set up scrolling downwards in this game is just horrendous. No worries, not a big deal. Here are some images:

When you start a new game, you are immediately shown your sister, Kyra. You have been captured by the same force that defeated the Orcs at this battle which I forget the name of. The cutscenes are quite good, however, the voice acting still is not great. You are then thrown into an underground dungeon where you are received by some of the last remaining Orcs to escape. Your first objective is to follow Dar Pha, and assassin-like character. The controls are easy to get used to. You may have noticed already, but now that you are in-game, you may notice that the graphics are drastically improved from it's counterpart. The game looks outstanding.
I won't spoil much, but I will go over the basics. Sneak, I think, is a new skill in the game. You can use sneak to, obviously, sneak behind enemies and assassinate them. After many awesome cutscenes, the second skill I learned while escaping the prison/castle was the Lockpicking skill. While it may be confusing at first, it can get rather simple once you've gained control of how it works. A video of it is below.

Before you escape the prison, you get a chance to try melee combat. You are given a club to start out. Combat is rather simple, however, there is no real lock-on system so you'll be swinging around your enemies aimlessly most of the time, missing them.
Once you've escaped the prison, you first learn the assassination skill. This is quite fun, and useful in many situations that I've been in. Eventually, I moved onto more in-depth melee combat, learning counterattacks such. Overall, melee combat is solid, however, i'm still a bit pessimistic. After all the melee training, I learn how to use a bow and arrow. It's quite simple; just hold onto the mouse button. You can use X to go into sniper mode for a more accurate shot, but it does not really do much for accuracy, as it auto-aims at your target right when you let go of the mouse button.
Magic seems a bit dull in this game. So far, I am simply holding onto the trigger, listening to a corny phrase, then I shoot a fireball at my enemy. Quite honestly, I believe the other two methods of killing an enemy prove to be quite more efficient than magic so far.
One another thing I forgot to mention is Alchemy and crafting. I'll start with crafting. You can basically craft most of your items in the game from swords to armor. You can dismantle said items into pieces like Iron, silver, steel, wood, leather, etc. You can then use those resources to upgrade your other equipment.
Alchemy is quite fun to experiment with. You place a minimum of two items in the pot thing and brew it to make a potion with a certain effect. The more ingredients you place in the pot, the stronger the potion will be. So if I mix ten Baboon tongues, it will have a greater effect than one with only five.
Lastly, onto the interface. The interface is pretty confusing quite honestly. The inventory system is just completely disorganized and looks horrible. Here is a picture of my, "Equipment" section:

Changing spells is also a pain. The game does not tell you how to work the interface, so it leaves you experimenting:

The quest log is also poorly made. It is simply ugly and seems disorganized.

Not all is lost though. Personally, I think the skills tab is really well-made and is quite easy to figure out.

Also, Horseback riding is horrendous. I've yet to figure it out. I guess partly because I never ride a horse; sprinting is fast enough.
You can view the map of Antaloor here: http://www.twoworlds2.com/de/map.html
The game world is surprisingly large.
********
All in all, I give Two Worlds II so far, an 8 out of 10. While the voice acting still is not great, and there are little bugs and annoyances, this game is surprisingly fun and addicting. This game is a great improvement from the first. The story seems like it will be a good one, however, I have not gotten too far into the game to determine how the story will unfold. I believe it is another save your sister story. The combat is fun, and crafting/alchemy is a blast to experiment with. The game is pretty difficult at first, but once you get the hang of combat, you will be set. I hope some find this useful when determining whether to purchase this game or not. I know many will probably avoid this at all costs, after playing or hearing about the first. But please, at least try this game out. You may find it much better than expected, like I have.
I'll update this thread as I progress in the game, assuming this thread catches others attention.
I hate the Melee combat. It doesn't respond well. It seems like it doesn't block when you tell it to unless certain conditions are met, and those are: You aren't mid-swing in an attack, that includes the very end of it, you have to wait until the animation is complete... and the other is if you aren't being hit.. if you get hit you stumble and can't block if the enemy pounds on you
And that happens 75% of the time, the other 25% feels fine.. it's very inconsistent
The game is pretty though
Yes I agree. You have to hit mouse 2 many times before you successfully start holding a block.
Can you post some screenshots of the game world? (wilderness, towns, etc)
Give me a second, I'll post a picture of the little home island and a part of the Savannah. I've yet to come across any major towns.
Hmm I'm wondering if I should try this. I've been looking for a new RPG but I find it hard to get into most games and even if they're good I usually can't play them if they feel buggy (New Vegas, Witcher, etc.)
This is the only town I have come across:

I've only gained access to a small portion of the map so far, which is this African style Savannah.

This is a little island that you are teleported to once you escape the prison.

I'm finding that it is hard to take decent pictures in this.
Also, my settings are pretty low. AA is at 1x and so is AF. Draw distance is medium.
god the entire GUI looks HEADACHE INDUCING
I like good RP's, so would you recommend this or is it not worth it?
OH MY GOD! Did they really think it would be a good idea to make another one??
I'll pick this up when a "DARNified UP" comes out. :\
The game doesn't seem that bad. The first one was hilariously great because it was so bad. I'll probably enjoy this one just as much.
I didn't really like the first game but I'm willing to give this a chance, are there multiplayer modes again and if so have you tried it out?
Edit: Wait that was stupid it clearly shows "Network" in a screenshot.
Also is the spell combining system any good? I read about things like "fire tornadoes" and that's what made me want to try this in the first place.
And is the crafting system any good, because that is what interested me, I love upgrading crap.
As stated in the OP, the crafting system is great. i have not triex combining spells yet.

Ill answer as many questions as i can tomorrow. Good night.
Game is pure awful. I have it myself. The story is hard to follow for those who didn't play out the first game. There could have been something to summarize it or at least a final cutscene. Something to introduce newcomers.
The combat is just horrendous. You swing and it seems like fun at original impression but then you realize, enemies just have 1 basic reaction to whatever your blow is.
Voice Acting is really a pain to listen to. The main character has the best VA in the game and he sounds like a steroid pumped douche so that's not really saying much. Everybody else seems as pissed off to be in the game as I was playing it.
I wasn't a fan of the first game either so maybe you can say I'm biased too but if you didn't enjoy the original, don't expect much from this. On the bright side, Graphics are decent...I guess...
The second continent that you go to, which is on Chapter 1 is more like an Africa/Egypt style land, The Varns that look like the mystical jackals creatures of Egypt plagues the land.
New Asla on chapter 2, has an Asian land, like a Feudal Japan small cultured town.
I think this game has the same engine that Assassin's Creed was, because when I was at the rooftop's, it look like the same texture in Cheznadar on the building's, windows, planks, etc, it's right next to another town Hatmandor.
The game is long, if you try to do all the guild quest and other side quest.
One of thing's that annoys me in this quest is the actor's voice, I have played the first two worlds and stop playing it cause I can't stand how bad the lip sync is and so forth, however I know his voice did not change to something that sound like the new batman movies. It sound like you can't really tell of his emotion's when his voice changes. Hardly yells, and it sound more like he has something of a poker face. The graphics in this game is ok, It's decent but not that great. The combat in this game is simple. Getting lot's of money is hard if you rely on dismantling equipment for parts to reinforce the one's you already have on any spare equipment except necklaces and jewelry (they are useful for more spare slot's for crystals). There is some bug's around here and there, I remember one of the theif's quest I had to do in the sewer's to slay scorpions and the citizen's continue calling for guard's when there is no one and they not attacking the scorpions. Music is ok, but it get's annoying hearing it over and over again, they should of add more music in the game. I hope in the future that this mod get lot's of patches and mod support so that other people can make unofficial patch's and addition to spice up the game.
Two Worlds 1, :barf:
I'll be blunt. I've played some bad games in my time. Many bad games. This probably ranks among the top 10 pieces of shit I've ever had the displeasure of experiencing.
If you don't like it, then go ahead and protest to close down Reality Pump Studios for making another awful game.
Hahaha, the sounds from the lockpicking video sound like the reload sounds from Goldeneye on N64.
Its really not as bad as TW1 but they kept some horrible "features"... I just went to a horse race on foot, because
I couldnt find my horse anymore... With nothing to do i quit the game. Nice.
Hahaha, the sounds from the lockpicking video sound like the reload sounds from Goldeneye on N64.
Sound like? They are! I can't believe I nostalgia'd about Goldeneye while lockpicking in an RPG in the year 2010
How is the multiplayer this time around? Do you get to play the whole singleplayer story in coop?
[editline]17th November 2010[/editline]
And does anyone know of any plans to bring this to Steam? Two Worlds Epic Edition is there, but not this.
I would always cheat in the original two worlds by constantly getting skill-resets online after getting enough money. They would give you like ten extra points each time.
I've played the opening part, and by christ it makes you appreciate studios like Bioware, and how good the voice acting/writing for their games is. Because dear god, this game is corny, and the combat isn't much better.

It's not a good RPG.
The reason the voice acting is bad is because they don't hire any voice actors; they get people from the crew to do the voicework.
Magic is best in this game. You design your own spells and shit.
Honestly I think this game is fucking horrible.
It's confusing, poorly made, nothing is ever fucking explained, the controls are unresponsive and floaty, the AI is shitty with creatures constantly just stopping in place and sitting there while you nail them with fireballs, and the combat just amounts to hammering the attack button.
It's fucking awful.

Oh come on! With names like "Rognor" and "Antiloor" how could you go wrong?
I also like how the prophet's tits poke out of her bra like it was just painted on her with latex.

I haven't heard such blatant fantasy drivel delivered so poorly since I played Dark Messiah.
