A volcano has erupted shooting out a bunch of asshole tiki masks that proceed to hypnotize all the animals on DK's island, and worst off they stole your fucking banana's. DK and Diddy decide they aren't going to stand for this shit and head out on a quest to beat the ever loving fuck out of some magical masks What's new? DK and Diddy play mostly like they did back on the SNES, running jumping and rolling/cartwheeling through dangers, but instead of tag team gameplay you have a life bar with 4 hearts (2 if you're playing multiplayer) Diddy rides on DK's back, from where he can give you a small boost jump/hover and make platforming slightly easier for you, after two hits though he's knocked off and sent spiraling away leaving DK to fend for himself till he finds a tag barrel. Multiplayer In multiplayer Diddy will hop off of DK's back and run around with the big guy, though this means DK will no longer be able to hover while diddy can. DK: Can pound the ground by shaking the wiimote to unearth items and treasures Diddy: Can boost jump with his jet pack and fire in spurts, if he shoots you, it's gonna hurt. Or stun you either or. At any point Diddy is allowed to climb onto DK's back and fire his guns while riding him like a mount, allowing DK to use the jetpack to platform easier. Both players have 2 hearts (unless you buy or find the heart patch giving you a extra hit for the level) and when you die you can spend a balloon to fly a barrel in to get revived, if you both die, it takes two balloons to revive the two of you, multi player mode can be argue-ably harder then single-player mode but it's way more fun then Mario was. Been thinking about getting this, always loved the DK platformers even though I sucked at them. I assumed it would be easy though since they even included that super guide, but I guess it's not.

Also was I the only one who picked this thing up?
Ive beaten a large portion of this game, only had the super guide pop up twice because of those fucking mine cart levels. But this game is far from easy on some parts.
is this Donkey Kong SNES but new graphics?
dude what the fuck did you just say about DK64? say that ot my fucking face faggot then see what happens
is this Donkey Kong SNES but new graphics?
Its a completely new game with new enemies and new levels, remixed music, etc. Its not made by Rare, but Retro Studios, they made Metroid Prime Series.
dude what the fuck did you just say about DK64? say that ot my fucking face faggot then see what happens
You're actually right, I had fun with DK64, but there were absolutely way to many collectable items to find, and some levels were physically painful to play through (Crystal Caverns springs to mind)
Its a completely new game with new enemies and new levels, remixed music, etc. Its not made by Rare, but Retro Studios, they made Metroid Prime Series.
Hmm then gamestop has lied to me. I was originally a hater of this game because I thought it was a $50 remake, but if it's a new game then it sounds awesome. And I really like Retro, they would handle this type of game well.
Rare shouldn't be allowed to touch their own games anymore.
Rare shouldn't be allowed to touch their own games anymore.
It's sad to see how a once great developer has fallen so far.
I blame Microsoft.
You can't blame Microsoft without blaming Nintendo as well.
My initial impressions. My little brother picked up Donkey Kong today, and I didn't really know what to expect. New Super Mario Brothers was fun, but nothing outstanding, and the cooperative mode could be fun at times when it din't have you pulling your hair out. Kirby's Epic Yarn's visuals caught my attention right away, but adorable charm alone doesn't make a good game, and ultimately I was disappointed with the absolute lack of difficulty. But Donkey Kong County Returns is a pleasant surprise. First of all, the game looks amazing and each stage has a different environment so you don't ever become too familiar with what your're going to see next. The difficulty so far is satisfying, but I'm sure it will ramp up in the later stages as I'm not very far yet into the game. The coop also seems like a major improvement over Mario, and is worth checking out, as you can't really intentionally fuck your partner up, or as far as I know.
Dude, it's a fucking kids game.
And Donkey Kong and Super Mario Brother's are not? They're games I'd argue that are heavily marketed towards younger gamers (With just enough appeal to entice those who can appreciate the core gameplay, and not have their masculinity questioned when they pick up the latest platformer over Black Ops), but both of those game managed to be fun without having to baby you. It's more appropriate to call Kirby a game for toddlers then anything.

My point is that moaning about the difficulty of a Kirby game is silly and borderline petty.
Well, I'll admit that the game is "good". When I was playing the game, I had a good time seeing how they integrated the yarn gimmick into the levels, and just admiring the art of the game. However, I still stand by what I said; I just think having a greater consequence for failure would make for a better game. Just my opinion of course.
Because of you OP, I have now hooked up my SNES and I'm going to beat DKC 1, 2 and 3.
My point is that moaning about the difficulty of a Kirby game is silly and borderline petty.
It seems perfectly reasonable. I would argue that the game's lack of difficulty detracts from the game. The player's actions are of little consequence and there are no ramifications for failure; this severely diminishes both the suspense present during gameplay and any sense of accomplishment afforded to the player. It simply doesn't work well. It definitely did feel like a kid's game, though. I gave it a try while I was visiting family and was surprised at how humiliatingly easy it was (I ended up beating a few levels with my eyes closed, for the hell of it). Anyhow, how about that Donkey Kong Country? Donkey Kong Country 2 has always been one of my favorite games, so I'm very much looking forward to purchasing and playing this iteration. It's good to know that it will be challenging, too.

Old but gold.
Looking forward to this. I really liked Epic Yarn. I hope this remake lives up to the classics.
