Hello! I'm sure most of you are aware of who I am and some of may even be familiar with what I'm showing you today. If not, let me acquaint you.
Playswap and Goozex are services that allow you to trade your unwanted games for a variety of platforms, in exchange for Games you do want or are having trouble finding anywhere else.
There's quite a few platforms to choose from, including (strangely) The Dreamcast and Mac.
There are two variations of the site, Playswap (The European variation) and Goozex (The American version.)

Goozex
How it works:
Both sites work in the same way, but I'll be using Playswap as my example as it's the one I use.
In order to trade you need two things, Trade Points and Trade Tokens. Points are used as a currency for the games you choose and Tokens are what allow you to make the trade. When you sign up, you're given on free Trade Token and a certain amount of points for your first trade.
Once you've used this trade to get the game you want, you can earn more points by trading your own games to other users. Unfortunately, you need to pay for new Trade Tokens, but they're like a quid each.
The trade process:
On the homepage you find what the latest available games are and a bunch of other features, that I admit, I haven't really looked at.

To start trading your own games, click here.

Or, look for your game and click here.

Simple as that, your game is on offer. Now, when someone requests it, you'll be given a choice, where you choose when, in a period of days, you will send the game. An example would be this, for Red Faction Guerilla (That I intend to send when I get paid :v:).

Simple as that. All you have to do is post it to the address the recipient provides.
Selecting Games YOU Want
This is even easier. Simply find the game you want, and if you have the points and a spare token available, simply click:

And wait for your game to become available, or for someone who has it to confirm they'll trade.
Now, i'll warn you now. The system is based on the idea of a Queue, so the more popular the game, the further back in the Queue you'll be, but as people trade the requested games, you'll go further up the Queue until you're first in line for the next offer.
Plus, Playswap used to be Goozex Europe and both sites were identical in the way worked. It's been a while since I visited Goozex since Goozex Europe became Playswap so there may be some small differences in how the US site works, the major difference I know of being that, in the US, you can trade DVDs as well as Games.
Anyway, the main reason I made this thread is to get more people aware of and using these services. Playswap used to have a lot of members and games on offer but a long period of downtime meant that both have shrunk considerably, unlike Goozex, so I was hoping this would be a good place to get people interested and increase the popularity and choice of games.
I can promise you it works as I've received numerous games, including Fable 2, Deus Ex and Lego Star Wars, but it's a good idea to contact the person trading first with a PM to make sure they still use the site.
I'll update the OP periodically with offers FP members are putting up if they like so people can get a chance to request a game before someone else does, and I can put a list of members who have already signed up from Facepunch.
I'll soon have Hearts of Iron 2: Complete Collection and Jurrassic Park: OG on offer, once I've been paid, so I'll let you know when if you're after them.
So get trading, and enjoy! :v:
Seems like a cool Idea. I just wish this could work for downloaded games on Steam.
I got excited, I thought this was Lockerz-esque point system where you would ship them games games, earn points, and buy other games with those points (I know lockerz doesn't do that, but just in the way you buy things with points).
I'm still not entirely sure how it works. So you put a game up for trade, say my RDR going for 1000 points, and when someone on their site says they want RDR, you ship it to Goozex and you're given points? Then with those points you can buy other games from their site and Goozex itself will ship it to you? Or is it direct trade, their game for your game? Or is it what I originally thought, ship to Goozex, get points, buy other games with said points?
You ship it to the guy who requested it and goozex gives you points
No hope of Black Ops then :frown:
I remember using this website, I really liked it and should get back to using it.

Sell old games for real money and buy blops?
Sell old games for real money and buy blops?
Sure, I just got real excited when I saw both RDR and Just Cause 2 were up for as many points as Black Ops was. If I were to sell it I'd need to sell both just for Blops, and eBay is a pain.

When you ship a game, you'll receive feedback from the person you sent it to, positive getting full points (the full package, disc, manual, case, or just speedy delivery or whatever), neutral (so it may be what you asked but perhaps the case is broken or something) or negative ( if the disc is inoperable or if you didn't receive the game at all etc.).
If you ship a game but you don't get feedback in 21 days you automatically get positive feedback from the system.
So yeah, if you want Black Ops you can get it, but like I said, it'll be a hell of a wait.

I meant to mention also, you get less points as you go down the positive, neutral, negative score.
Why do Australians miss out on the cool stuff?
I got Unreal Tournament 3 from this. Also put up a bunch of my games for trade, but no one seemed to have requested for them yet.
I wish I could trade my steam games.

What games did you upload? I'll put them in the OP when I get home from college.
Does anyone have a copy of the Destroy All Humans game for 360, by the way?

I have that for PS2. I didn't know it came out on 360.
Got my second game today. Still have 1000 points left.

It was a threequal. Path of the Furon or something. I had the original for Xbox and loved it.
This first page is a majority of my own posts. Come on, does anyone use or want to use this?!
I use playswap, I gave UT3 to a guy in my country and have 700 points now, I have 30 wants and in 1 month I did not get any people that could give me it. This fucking sucks. :saddowns:
Can these points be converted into actual money? Because I don't like having an imaginary currency that can only be used in one place.

I agree, but that's why I made the thread, to get more people using it and uploading more games.
Sorry, you need to Log In to post a reply to this thread.
