• Would it be possible to have HDR in HL2 singleplayer from the 360's OB?

Well I have this idea that i'm sure might work or not. Since Valve didn't update the HL2 levels with HDR but updated them on the console wouldn't it be possible to browse on the dvd of the OB from the Xbox 360 version and take the HL2 singleplayer .bsp's and try running them in EP2?
You would need to copy the HDR skies too. Also I'm not sure if the 360 bsp's are the same as on PC.
Just copy and paste HL2's maps into HL2: EP2.

That isn't in HDR. If you use the levels from HL2 PC they aren't compiled with HDR and should do not show HDR effects.
then run them in fucking garry's mod or just take the things off the disc for your 360 or whatever, you need a DVD-DL reader though. I'm not sure if regular DVD drives read them. [editline]06:12AM[/editline] or you could just load them into hammer and compile them with HDR

Loading them up in hammer and compiling them is not an option since it will take a long time and decompiling doesn't always work correctly. I am also asking the question that would it be possible to do it. It seems like you don't really know what your talking here.

I'm all but certain they aren't
You can by decompiling all the maps, adding a tonemap controller, and adding triggers to control the exposure level throughout the level. So no.

That's why i'm asking if we could use the HDR maps from the 360.
If you can get the ISO of the disc (by any means, be it yourself or not) you could probably get the data.

Well, HL2 for xbox1 had the same map files, I put them in half life 2 and they worked fine so if you can get them I don't see why they wouldn't.
Valve will update it eventually. Just be patient.
no you don't understand. that's now HDR works. you do that then compile with HDR (which DOUBLES compile times).
Only if you want to fine tune your lighting. I have compiled some maps before without the env_tonemap_controller and the HDR effects are still there. http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Advanced_HDR
why not just do bloom it's not like it makes that much of a difference
Valve will update it eventually. Just be patient.
along with achievements right? nope I think we should band together and make a quick mod that implements the Xbox achievements and Ep2 style HDR/Ep2 models for vortigaunts etc Who's with me?
why not just do bloom it's not like it makes that much of a difference
My troll detector's meter is going off the charts.
There may be things placed into the maps that are Xbox specific, though otherwise they should work.
My troll detector's meter is going off the charts.
you could turn dof on too
I've extracted files off an xbox disc before, the 360 version probably uses BSP too, so it should be possible.
of course it uses BSP what do you think it runs on ue3? the only difference is the disc format (DVD-DL)
of course it uses BSP what do you think it runs on ue3? the only difference is the disc format (DVD-DL)
I just wonder why no one has done it before.
of course it uses BSP what do you think it runs on ue3? the only difference is the disc format (DVD-DL)
UE3 uses BSPs.
lol [editline]06:01PM[/editline]
I just wonder why no one has done it before.
because it's stupid [editline]06:01PM[/editline] your troll meters are broken
I just wonder why no one has done it before.
I think someone on Halfife2.net did it. They were the same as the PC version except for the lighting I think.
UE3 uses BSPs.
Differen't kind of bsp, obviously.
