I never played Halo 1 and 2, but i have heard nothing but good things about them.
I think Halo 3 was an amazing game, especially the campaign, and i still tend to play it now and again.
Is Combat Evolved actually worth the 1200 msp it is up for on the game marketplace?
Buy it in a local game store if you can for a quarter of the price.
Halo CE is the best Halo, if you can't find a lower price somewhere else, go for it.
once you get to the library part, just keep going. don't stop. don't stop until you see covenant.

i really dont know what your talking about here, but when i get the game i probably will. So i'll get back to you on that one.
:P
Let's just say I almost came out of the library with claustrophobia.
You can also get it on disc, and it will work just as well. You can only get Halo 2 that way for example, and it may be cheaper.

Good god this. Turn around and shoot if you want, but it'll do fuck all.
Its like 3$. Go get it. Right now.
I don't care what other people on the Halo Hate Bandwagon think, Halo series is great, just overhyped to hell especially with the little kids. Well besides ODST.
Halo 1 and 2 really complete Halo 3 in my opinion. If you thought Halo 3 was good, you'll think more highly of it when you play the other 2.
Also, they are full of kids, but honestly I'm only in it for the story and music. And a great story it is.
Halo 3 was mediocre, it just got old after playing Halo and Halo 2.
Halo one was great, Halo 2 was pretty good, I enjoyed the Arbiter's parts more than the chief.
Halo 3 was just meh. I sold it after the third month of owning it. I still have Halo one and two.
If you can, I'd try to get it on PC. It still has a somewhat active online multiplayer, from what I remember.
and you can mod the pc version
Combat Evolved really was the pinnacle of the Halo series.
Why did they abandon the fucking health bar system!? WHY!!!?
Just wanna say I don't understand why people say Halo 3 got "old". I've probably put more time into it then the other two Halo games..and yeah, I owned Halo CE for PC.
Multiplayer is endless fun. If matchmaking somehow gets boring, there's the world of custom games.

because having 1 health bar and you can't find a health pack is annoying as balls bro

Yeah it's still a good game although honestly I wasn't a fan of the story.
Personally I preferred the Marathon series' story, but you have to read a lot.

I like it better than the whole idea of cowering behind a rock while a gaping hole in your chest heals up.
Both are pretty unrealistic but I prefer the medkit idea best.

It's back in Halo 3 ODST and also Halo Reach.

yeah but in halo 2 and 3 your suit dispenses medicine and whatnot, even though its in the style of run and gun, it still is partially realistic
also lol @ comparing halo to realism
Holy shit really? That is the best news ever. Halo Reach is set to be epic.
Halo: CE has a health bar, it is on the top left of your screen. Anyway, Halo CE on XBOX 360?
1. No Achievements
2. Better Controls
3. Get it at a GameStop, it will be like 5 bucks
Holy shit really? That is the best news ever. Halo Reach is set to be epic.
At least I think the health bar system is back.
I'll be equally pissed if it's not.
Halo CE is the reason I bought the original Xbox.
Also, the Co-Op is fucking brilliant.
I didn't find Halo 3 to be as memorable as 1 or 2, but we all probably have bias memories because the experience was so new at the time. I remember playing Halo 2 because it was really the first online hit that people started buying xbox live for. Now, the multiplayer would probably feel stale by today's standards, but you should most definitely play Halo 1's singleplayer. It's got some classic video game moments and beating it is like a rite of passage.
once you get to the library part, just keep going. don't stop. don't stop until you see covenant.
That level was an absolute BITCH on Legendary.
Oh, God, the memories of the rocket-launcher wielding Flood... So dark...
And each time that fucking orb would float away to fix a door... *sobs quietly*
Hey, at least they didn't have fucking tanks. (Whoever thought giving tanks to the flood was a good idea will receive impalement by my hand! >:( )
Also, how the fuck did you play Halo 3 single player? Nothing makes any sense whatsoever unless you know the story from Halos 1 and 2.
But yeah, Halo 3 was comparatively a disappointment, so you'll probably find Halo 1 and 2 to be a pleasant surprise if your standard is Halo 3. Halo 3 is okay, but the art style is weird, the story is pointless and doesn't satisfy any of the questions I had at the end of Halo 2, rather it just keeps on raising more without answering them. It also get's silly, something I commend Halo 1 and 2 for avoiding considering the subject matter. And finally, being the third game of a pretty much identical style of play it gets old fast.

The thing about Halo is that it's probably the only game out there the whole recharging health/shield thing actually makes sense for. It's a 500+ years into the future exo-battlesuit inhabited by an engineered super soldier. He can recharge his health all he fucking wants. (Although I did like the medkit thing best. Simply because it was more fun to play, I'd instantly waste all my health in one go, then survive on the last bar or two until the next medkit. :D )
That's another reason I like Halo. The game mechanics aren't just mechanics. They help tell a story about the weapon you are using or the enemy you are fighting. Which is another thing that disappointed me about Halo 3, they kinda strayed from this ideal in order to overbalance the game. "Polish" I believe is the buzzword they use these days.
According to several interviews I've read the "perfection" of Halo CE was something that just "happened" by a lot of random elements coming together as they were frantically trying to just ship the game at all. In this respect it's quite similar to Star Wars actually. Overnight success of a movie that simply struggled to get out of the door, a success that just "happened" as a lot of random elements came together (because as should be clear by now Lucas is incapable of making a good movie by himself. Chance had to help him back then. When he took control away from chance he took away everything that was good.)
Same story really, Halo 3 just feels overproduced and much too different, when what made Halo in the first place was innocent, unpolished chance. (And a fair amount of consistency between Halo 1 and 2 so it wouldn't slap you in the face how different everything was.)
Halo 3 is a great game if you play it for the story
Seein' shit like the entire High Charity as a Flood hive and that final Warthog run just like in CE was just epic

Wait you played Halo 3 but not 1 and 2?
I disappointed.

Naw, High Charity was disappointing. They couldn't have chosen a worse level at all to use backtracking in. It seems tiny. While in Halo 2 it looked and felt absolutely stunningly huge.
I'd get it from Microsoft directly IMO.
Halo 2 was the worse of the three, if you were to get it, get it for the PC, it's terrible on the console.
Also little rant, Halo ODST is a colossal waste of money and completely over priced for what it was.
Bungie seems to have gotten it right with Halo Reach...Shame it's everything that Halo 3 should have been.:frown:
