• Games similar to Far Cry/Crysis?

I really enjoyed the gameplay style of both Far Cry and Crysis. I love the open world feel and the "approach the problem how you like" feel of it. The problem is that I haven't really been able to find any games that are really similar. I was wondering what Facepunch had to say? Far Cry 2 and Crysis 2 are a good start, I suppose?
It's a huge bump, but since it's on the first page of the FarCry subforum now... Xenus II White Gold: It's a game made by Ukranian dev Deep Silver in 2008. (It actually came out the same day as Far Cry 2 in CIS) It's like Far Cry, but it takes itself even less seriously, and it's every bit as buggy as you would expect Russian Far Cry to be. Also the English voiceovers are remarkably bad. https://youtu.be/Aw6r3Vqq9y0 There's a perk system like the newer Far Cry games, but with realism thrown out the window. (There's a double jump perk) so by the time you leave the first island, it feels more like you're playing Quake or Unreal Tournament than a semi-realistic shooter.
This and it's predecessor, Boiling point: Road to hell, were some good shit. Fun and broken at the same time. They're also somewhat similar to STALKER.
Boiling Point is so freaking good
Fuck, I keep forgetting I have my original copy of Boiling Point and I never completed it. Had an fps itch recently I've been having trouble scratching, might be time to reinstall.
Shit looks like i need to get boiling point
I actually came to this thread to post Boiling Point, but others took care of it. My dad had a penchant for finding obscure Eastern European games back in the day.
Boiling point is the most fun shit game I've ever played tbh
I just remember the dialogue options being great in Xenus II. At one point a man asks you to play chess against him, and one option is something like "fuck off old man this is the Tetris age"
I'd love to be able to buy Boiling Point digitally, I'd buy it within a second
wait so which is it Xenus II or Boiling Point?
both
Funny that I went to this thread to post about Xenus 2. Wish I could play Boiling Point but not gonna contaminate my current PC with StarForce DRM trash, that thing was nasty in XP era for me, sometimes even worse than some viruses.... Also - BP have hilarious patch notes like "fixed size of the moon" and "dogs can cast shadows now" but for the life can't find complete list of these patchnotes. Speaking about patches - both Xenus 2 and The Precursors were released on Steam, then went to $1 shortly after. They need patches made by Wesp5 who is known for his patches for VtM Bloodlines. actually know english even with english knowledge you can have problems with understanding what's going on and wtf is that NPC talking about.
Xenus II: White Gold is the sequel to Boiling Point: Road to Hell, which I don't think was ever called Xenus...
*chuckles* Delta Force 1 it was obviously a low budget game but still has a lot of elements that ya see today's fps games. Like pubg immediately reminded me of it especially with the desert map when just running around and looking for people.
