A few weeks ago someone stole my friends account and then messaged me while posing as my friend. The guy basically told me to sign into steam at a site and then log out and I would get a free game from steam. So I believed him and didn't think to check to see if the site was bogus because I thought I was talking to a friend. And I entered my info and then lost my account, and then someone posed as me and tried to get my friends to fall for it. Now even though I was dumb and fell for such a trick, I was at least courteous enough to sign in to my friends account and warn my entire friend list so that they didn't lose their accounts. And luckily enough I succeeded in doing so.
I actually received messages from two of the scammers tonight.

So guys remember to look out for shit like this. I got lucky and got my account back, but I've heard of a lot of people not getting theirs back. And I wouldn't want you to lose your steam games, that would bring tears to my eyes.
If you fall for this... gosh. Valve has stated they will never contact you directly, would never use a free subdomain, nor use "the steam".
Seriously this is becoming a fucking nuisance, lock these threads.

Yeah these guys were dumb, they're not even friends of mine. At least when they posed as a friend it was more convincing.

If you follow the website they link you to it looks just like steam community. So you think your actually signing in to their sites.
And if I see a thread that I need not to look at then I go on with my way instead of going in to complain.
