Race Driver: Grid - The best Arcade Style racing game ever made?

Available on PS3, 360 and PC.
Now I'm never usually a fan of racing games, I can't stand typical racing simulators such as Gran Turismo. When I'm playing a racing game the only way I find the game fun, is if there is something fucking awesome going on 100% of the time, Race Driver: Grid is a good example.
Playing Race Driver: Grid is by far one of the most fun experiences I've had on the PS3 to date, I know people would have varied opinions on this, but in my opinion it is one of the most fun games I've played.
The reason Grid manages to achieve this is the ability for the game to feel realistic but be totally unrealistic at the same time, naturally in Grid, you can usually take a hairpin at 50mph. Now racing sim fanboys will be fuming at that fact, but thats just part of what makes Grid so fun.
Another reason Grid is so much fun is the physics and the crashes, the car handling physics are very good but have a heavy "arcadey" feel to them, oversteer is very precise and controllable, understeer can be completely elimated by turning on a small driver assist. One of the best features in Grid are the crashes, some are truely spectacular, the crashes in Grid make you almost want to deliberately crash your car into the barrier just for the absolute satisfaction, of your car being turned into a complete wreck, as it is run up the tire wall and rolls over several times before coming to a grinding halt in the middle of the track.
The last feature I want to talk about is the replay system, now some games lack a decent replay system where it's really needed. Grid doesn't have this problem, it's very simple but it's all you need. Simple playback controls which you can also do in Slow Motion, so you can watch that awesome crash from as many angles as you like.
Some people will disagree and try and say they know better, I haven't played many arcade racers myself, but I happen to know this game has some of the best reviews. No other racer caught my eye as much as this one did, but if you know a racing game which you believe is better please feel free to post it.
Loads of crashes:

yeah it's fucken awesome!
I love the replay. Crashing has never been so much fun.
I woulden't exactly say "arcade", I love the game, but it is somewhat realistic. Burnout is more "arcady", and NFS.
It's a nice mix of arcade-style and realism. It really is a very fun and challenging game to play.
I was surprised recently when I found that a good deal of the in-game adverts for various car related companies had been replaced by billboards for Coca Cola Zero and the Max Payne film.
i played the demo with another guy and we set up barriers and like 10 cars would crash into us at 100+ mph and get wrecked
My favorite racing game of all time
Edit:
Who rated me down
WHO DID
OMGOGMOGMOGOGMO I CAN'T STAND THE MINUS FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
If this thread gives this game good reviews I'll buy it for 360. Is there any customisation system?
I want to make a metallic pink-light blue car.
It looks awesome, can you buy new parts to your car like in grand tourismo n shit?
I don't normally take the role of 'thread douche' but I thought this game was horrid. Only on the basis that Race Driver used to be excellent semi-sim games with great vehicle and track variety. And this iteration was dumbed down to fuck and put an emphasis on silly shit rather than just racing.
Nice crashes though

Only the graphics on the car are somewhat customizable, you could probably do that though. Just don't expect modding like in NFS games and Midnight Club: LA.

Classic case of Sim Fanboy as I spoke of in the OP. No offence intended, but you pretty much proved my point.

Customization ingame is somewhat limited.
You can customize every car only visually, change the colours and the shapes on the car.
Later on you'll get sponsors wich will be on the car automatically, after you chose them.
One of my favourite race games of all time.
great racing controls but I hated the AI having to idea i was there so I would turn and some guy would just ram into me like he never saw me
I'm more of the simulation racer type, but GRID is fun. It is definitely arcadey, but it has some simulation factors which I like. It's fun playing online, especially with people you know.

The driving physics are nowhere near realistic, and neither is the damage, but it is fun sometimes.
This is the best racing game ive ever played, well spend 50€.
Yeah its a great game, very easy to get into. Only racing game i've ever bought. Except mario kart :P.
This game is great fun, but a keyboard and mouse won't cut it for controls. You'd be better off using a game controller or a racing wheel instead.
Controlling this game with a keyboard is a fucking pain.
Only problem I have with this game really.
I fucking love this game i love how you can drive your car to a wreck or how you can drift perfectly around a corner this is just so awesome.
I love this game.
It's alright. I'd rather play Project Torque for a good race though.
This game is amazing. Especially when you unlock cheats.
Turn on Speed Hack and Repulsor Shield at the same time.
If you didn't unlock them, go download a save that has them unlocked.
You can change your team name and everything about your profile
You can even change your own name
Grid is not an arcade racing game holy fuck it is hard to control
I need to get a Windows 360 controller for this, i got it on my PC and the keyboard controls aren't up to scratch for a racing game imo.
I only have two racing games and they are both quite hardcore sims. I have Forza 2 (pretty SIMish with all asistances off) and Baja: Edge of Control, which is a brilliant game, but is hard as FUCK. I have been thinking of getting GRiD for a long time, but I have never even got the time to play many of my other games. I have played the demo a lot, and I find it great fun every time. Will probaly be the next game I buy, together with DiRT, as I also want a rally game. They are made by the same people, and they are not really inventive about the names...

Oh, and the main reason for I was afraid of buying this game, was because I never understood the drift gamemode. My opponent always got 10 times as many points as I did. I didn't score any points, and I crashed all the time. Any tips on how to drift in grid?

What the hell are you talking about?
I wish there was a way to get custom tracks for the PC version, i want to make the Top Gear testtrack!

Build Speed > Tap Handbrake > Turn > Release Handbrake > Use acceleration (Sometimes you'll need to really give it some to keep yourself moving so don't be afraid of full throttling it while sliding) and you may need to turn a little to keep yourself in line.
Main thing you need is practice, it doesn't take long to get good at it at all.
