Hi. I'm using an analog Mic for my PC with Windows XP. It works with everything except for steam and the games. When i do the "Test Microphone" in steam, It gives me a wierd distored and looped sound that goes higher and higher in pitch.
It's plugged in at the back of my PC and in the right jack (the pink one)
So, any help at all would be appreciated.
Thanks in advice
Turn mic boost off, and you'll hear it fine. Also, try turning sensitivity down in steam "voice output volume".
Nope nothing. But it sounds like it loops the background music in TF2. I'm going to bed now, so I'll be checking tommorow
Are you sure that Steam isn't set to get sound off of Stereo Mixer?

Use realtek HD input.

Now there is no sound from mic. Atleast it isn't giving me some crappy distortion.
Your computer maybe uses wrong sound input, the mic input isn't selected.
Right click on your sound icon, in the taskbar and click "Öppna volymkontrollen", After that click "Alternativ" and choose "Egenskaper". In "mixer enhet" pick "Realtek digital HD input" Make sure "mikr-volym" is ticked and "stereo mix" is not.
I did it in swedish for him, since he's swedish.
Well this is what i got. In order.
