Why isn't HL2 recognized more easily? - Games

Half-Life and Half-Life 2 are regarded to be the two best games (or up near the top if POSSIBLY bested) of all time. Yet how come a lot of this generation hasn't even heard of it, let alone consider it a somewhat decent game? I mean there's tons of those fags in public at GameStop and school that say "Half-Life 2 sucks big donkey dick" even though chances are the only game they've ever touched is MW2. I mean an opinion is one thing but completely ignoring/being arrogant about it is odd. I guess it's just underappreciated. Many people I know have heard of it but there's a TON that haven't. It honestly ticks me off a little bit. Any of you have anything to say on the subject?

Because most people are console faggots. I don't think Orange box was ever that popular on xbox

Orangebox weren't that popular due to not descriptive enough covers or there was the "5 games in a pack? Probably crap games" effect in place. (or lack of updates)

The only person I have ever met who knew of Half Life 2 was a very cool guy. Everyone else thought it probably sucked.

Well, do the math. A lot of players (At least from what I've seen) in MW2 are between 9 and 14 years old. HL2 came out in...was it 2004? So even IF they play shooters, odds are that they passed HL2 right by, due to an M rating. But yeah, it only seems that one in ten gamers for me is familiar with ANYTHING by valve other than Counter-Strike, and even then, they don't know who made it off the top of their head. I mean, I didn't even find out about Half-Life 2 until around the time Episode 1 was coming out.

Same, out of all my friends, they only knew Half Life 2 as a game about some guy with a crowbar.

Because they were 3 years old when HL2 was released.

Most of the people in my country only plays shitty FIFA, but there's an increase of people who know Valve now though.

Here everyone plays FIFA and PES games. God i hate them. Then, i lend them a copy of HL1 or HL2, and they go like "wtf are those things" "who the hell is that guy" "why do i have to solve puzzles i want to shoot people" "i went rambo aganist those guys over there and they fired and killed me in a second" GOD! Oh yeah, then there are these guys that think they know about all games and lie. You can say something like "Those houndeyes on HL2 are pretty hard to kill" and they will answer "meh, i just pop in a few AK-47 rounds and they're dead." DEAR GOD WTF

Where I live everyone plays pirated cs1.6 but so far no one I asked knows what valve is.

Only people who know what Half Life or VALVe are are guys who play game son the pc. The Orange Box wasn't popular on the 360, either because they hadn't heard of the company, there was no televised advertising (to my knowledge) and they likely thought that since it was 5 games for £20ish, that the games would be shit and a waste of money.

I got HL, HL: Ep 1, HL: Ep 2, Portal and TF2 at £2 each. Best. Deal. Ever.

Only 2 guys on my school knows about Half Life.

Most people where I live think Valve made Left 4 Dead 2 and nothing else. One guy didn't even know there was a L4D1. :eng99:

Hm, yeah. Where I live they all play pirated CS 1.6 or pirated L4D, only 2-3 persons know it's made by Valve and 2 persons that bought Valve game/s. Also, one of them thinks HL2 is a a shit, but he never played it so if he is going to get Orange Box (Or RE5, is it worth it? ASAP and i'll tell him.) he will probably change his thoughts about HL2

None of their shitty console games will ever rise to level of awesome that is Half Life 2.
