so i bought dead rising 2 last night and it took a really, really long time to install off steam but finally it worked so when i went to play it windows live came up with this
Live must verify the release date of this game
so i waited. 2 hours had passed so i left the computer on all night. so i went to check, still on this screen
after that i went to school and came back AND STILL NOTHING. after about 18 hours it still has not moved off this screen.
surely it would not take 6/7 of a day to find out the release date of a game with it clearly slapped on the front of the web page
what is going on and how might i fix this problem. let me remind you i still have this same text screen every time i go to start the game

you can join in anytime, JUST TELL ME WHATS WRONG IM TIRED OF THIS GODDAMN WINDOWS LIVE POP UP
There is many ways around it, but I'm not guaranteeing any of these will work
First, Verify integrity of the files. And then start up the direct x, vcredist, gfwl, and last of all zdp manually.
You can find them in the game`s subfolders. under: ?programfiles?\steam\steamapps\common\deadrising 2\
if that doesn't work
might want to uninstall DR2 :(
1. Install the latest windows live client/ games for windows, not through an update.
2. Download these .dll's http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?xlive, http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?msidcrl40 and stuff them inside of the DR2 main folder
3. Port forward these as GFWL requires them
TCP 80, UDP 88, UDP 3074, TCP 3074, UDP 53, TCP 53
4. Set your date 6-12 months ahead from current before installing if you decide to uninstall
Hope these work, I had to change my sound quality to DVD just to have it run
i cant start up any of those files due to WINDOWS LIVE VERIFYING THEIR RELEASE DATE
[editline]24th November 2010[/editline]
also hey CANT I JUST DELETE THIS SECURITY PROTOCALL INSTEAD OF WAITING 7 YEARS FOR IT TO VERIFY i mean theres a security catalogue file here cant i just delete it
End the process through task manager, then follow Craptasket's instructions.
ive never ever had to use task manager before. this may sound like a stupid question but where is it?
Ctrl-Alt-Delete > Start task manager
Or Control panel and put Task Manager in the search bar
Should open a program with a list box, click the processes tab and find DR2install.exe, or Installwizard.exe, DR2.exe, etc
click end process
i want to make a windows live account but it makes me make an xbox live account. as far as the link for create an account is concearned windows live doesn't exist instead i must create an xbox live account to play PC games
is it me or has microsoft made the worst gaming installation system on the face of the earth. take this game for example, they couldnt even get the date verifier right. infact why need one when the game was released 2 months ago
the zdp thinks its august 11th is there anyway to change it to the current date
AND IF i uninstall dead rising 2. will it be free to reinstall of steam

i downloaded these and they turn out to be programs. (i thought they were patches) and it turns out it costs alot of money to fix my problem. IM NOT spending any more money this close to christmas and when you said stuff them into the main folder. i can only stuff in one windows dll SHORTCUT
im not quite sure if these were the files you intended and they did not fix anything

Yes, it will be free to reinstall from STEAM, unless there is a GfWL associated DRM that says you can't.

At first I was dumbfounded at what you were talking about, then realized how annoying it is finding the real download button for these files. you notice there is like 4 "DOWNLOAD NOW" images? don't worry this gets almost everyone
Here
http://www.dll-files.com/pop.php?dll=xlive
Click the large bold text, "Download xlive.dll"
and for the other
http://www.dll-files.com/pop.php?dll=msidcrl40
"Download msidcrl40.dll"
Again just find the main DR2 folder in your C drive and replace the files with the same name, that's it.

You still need to search online for other solutions to your problem if this doesn't work.
All you do is press enter at that screen.
Holy shit Craptasket being a good and helpful mod?
I actually shed a tear when I saw his post, I never thought I'd see the day.
It's.. Beautiful!
Much kudos to the ol' chap.

You're an idiot. And this thread is yet another example of why GFWL needs to fuck right off. I'd remove it from every game but it stops the MP from working.
Sorry, you need to Log In to post a reply to this thread.
