Sorry if this is in the wrong section.
Half Life will constantly freeze at loading points.
I heard I should play in compatibility mode or DEP, whatever that is.
If I'm supposed to, could someone kindly explain?

It happens with Blue Shift too.
On my old computer, an XP, it NEVER froze.
Well, Blue Shift didn't. I didn't have the original HL back then.
By the way, I use a Vista now.

Well, I was going through my stacks of games one day and found Blue Shift, so I installed it onto Steam.
It then gave me Half Life and a bunch of other things for free.
So... I dunno, really.

So you registered it onto steam? It would be retail if you had it physically. The retail versions are not compatible with vista or XP, Just 98. So you would need something like DOSBOX to get a proper dos prompt working in vista and run HL.
