While the original was a fairly standard side scrolling platformer the games turned into a frantic 3rd person shooter/beat-em-up with on rail flying sections where you shoot down enemy attackers, featuring rapidly switching weapons and scaling difficulty. It also includes a online mode that's best described as smash bro's but in 3D. Single player overview Skyworld is once again in danger, humans are under attack by mysterious demons of the underworld and Medusa, the original big bad of the series has revived. Pit sets off to put a end to everything running into a mysterious doppleganger and superpowered human warrior and others along the way, the game features all of the enemies from the original game (reapers, eggplant wizard, METROIDS, etc) and new types like the Tempura wizard. The game takes place in both flying sections and on ground, flying being a 3rd person on rails section where you go to a goal while blasting through enemies who would stop you, while on ground well, hopefully obvious you run around jumping, dodgerolling, and beating the hell out of things with you're various equipments. While that's all standard the game features upgrades you can set to give Pit more health, more damage and whatnot by filling out a gauge of his with tetris like blocks, buffing your character up in your own way, as well as swappable weapons, featuring a gun that can transform into a sword, a cannon, clubs that can knock enemy projectiles back at them and more. There's even a simple crafting ability where you can mix two weapons and get a more powerful one if you want! Also the game is hard! There's enemies with one hit kills (Aformentioned Tempura wizards can turn you into a shrimp with legs, and if he catches you while you're transformed he'll devour you, as a example) so included is the Fiends Cauldron, which let's you determine how hard the coming level will be by betting hearts you get from defeated enemies. The higher the difficulty you set it to, the better the drops and items you can get, though if you bite it, you lose it all. You can also use hearts to make things easier on you though you obviously won't get too much from it. There are 2 modes, Free-for-all and 3 vs 3. As for who can play, it's local (multicart) + online (You can invite friends or just fight random). I'll break the 2 modes down here Free for all You have a certain timelimit and are dumped onto the battlegrounds, it's score attack where you'll grind rails, dodge each other's firing and fight to kill and get the most points, there are healing items scattered about and depending on your loadout you'll be worth more points, it's high risk and reward here. Example, if you equip a gun that can 2 shot a enemy, then yeah you can get a lot of kills, but if someone kills you right back they'll get a massive bonus (and the ability to hijack your gear for that life). It's the simpler of the game modes 3vs 3 Light vs Dark, your team shares a "Team Spirit" health bar, and every time you die, you'll take a chunk off of it, like Free for All, if you have amazing equips on it's up to you to not die as you'll damage team spirit the most when you're finished, though lighter and simpler loadouts don't matter as much. The big twist is once your Team Spirit is drained, the last person on your team to die (and drain it all) will be brought back as the super powered mascot of the team, i.e. Pit or Dark Pit. The Pits deal massive damage and are insanely strong, but if they get defeated your team loses, so it becomes something of a protect the VIP while making a final push, till at the end you'll have two strong characters battling out with you trying to assist them. Looks pretty good. Makes me wonder if they included a remake of the original game. That would be hilarious. Kinda sucks that the Wii isn't getting much attention, though. It's like everything is getting shoved onto the 3DS because of that stupid 3D gimmick. First Monster Hunter. Soon, everything.

I have GOT to get a 3DS.
I seriously doubt it's because of the 3D gimmick.
Knowing Nintendo it probably is.
Didn't they assign melee attacks while on foot to the L button? Because that doesn't seem like the most comfortable button to mash during those frantic on foot segments
The voice acting, oh god.
Didn't they assign melee attacks while on foot to the L button? Because that doesn't seem like the most comfortable button to mash during those frantic on foot segments
There's a surprisingly large amount of countrol schemes so that's possibly one of em'.
Control Pad Pro is supported, right? I preordered and stuff, but if it supports CPP I'll be picking that up as well, hopefully left stick = movement and right stick = aiming
Knowing Nintendo it probably is.
The Wii is on its way out and the Wii U isnt coming out for months, they cant just let this title sit and go to waste. I think all their sales for this year will be 3DS games and Last Story/Xenoblade once they come to america, so its nice to see a big game like Uprising.
I want to try this game out before I buy it. Hopefully Nintendo will offer a demo on the eshop. I'm still not entirely sold on the gameplay yet, and I've read that the controls can get a little uncomfortable...
Control Pad Pro is supported, right? Why does Pit have a gun? That's like giving a gun to Link, it's just weird.
Why does Pit have a gun? That's like giving a gun to Link, it's just weird.
Why does Thanatos have a blog?
Why does Pit have a gun? That's like giving a gun to Link, it's just weird.
I'd have agreed with you if it hadn't turned out so fucking awesome
aint as cool as owning the actual disc
I've always honestly wondered why Club Nintendo America hates it's consumers so goddamn much. Japan: 8-bit mario pillow America: A box with a crayon drawing of what could be mistaken as mario on the side.

Reggie is a dick. :v:
Turns out the game has unlockables ala smash bros as well! And here are the control types.
Aim Assist and Auto Fire? So, what, it plays thee for game for you?
Aim Assist and Auto Fire? So, what, it plays thee for game for you?
Autofire probably just means that you don't need to tap a button in order to shoot continuously. Kinda like the turbo button on older gamepads. And Aim Assist, I can see it useful, since you'll be shooting at tiny enemies on a small screen. That said, you can just disable both of them, so no big deal.
It is currently rumored to be 25 chapters or more long, over 12 hours of story mode. And I saw some leaked stuff, all I can say is, it already seems long, without me knowing the exact amount of chapters. And Palutena+Pit banter is awesome
