In HL1 gordon starts a cascade, that released the xen creatures. Adrian shepard saves the world, but GMan got pissed and re-destroyed the world, and froze them both in time. 20-something years later: alyx wakes up, breaks the combine force, ect. Does that make G-Man the bad guy of the game? My theory is gordon freeman sucks, adrian shepard is the true hero :v:
Um, Adrian Shepard isn't cannon, and how did he save the world? It was 10 years not 20, Gman didn't re-destroy the world, the military nuked blackmesa.

All the HL games are connected in some way [editline]09:22PM[/editline] except the mods [editline]09:24PM[/editline] Also, I read up on g-man a bunch last night. He's some super human dude that only the player can see, or whoever he chooses. Later in the game (Ep2 i believe) He speaks to alyx when she's unconscious, and later when she sees him on a TV screen, what he said to her she remembers and spits it out automatically but can't remember that she said it afterwards. And at the end Eli tells you that he knows more about g-man than he gives the impression of, but you're interrupted by Alyx before he can tell you all he knows. [sp]Then he dies.[/sp]

Well this thread IS about the HL2 Episode 2 story. Not sure why anyone would come in here not expecting spoilers

GMan didn't destroy the world. The Black Operation teams brought in a thermonuclear warhead, and Adrian Shepard deactivated it, but later saw the GMan re-activate it. The nuke destroyed Black Mesa, nothing more. Both Adrian Shepard and Gordon Freeman saved the world from giant aliens. Gordon killed the Nihilanth to stop aliens from flooding the world. Adrian killed the Gene Worm to stop it from terraforming Earth to suit the Race X aliens. Upon killing the Nihilanth, Gordon allowed the GMan to take control of Xen, and he accepted a job offer from the GMan in return for protection. The GMan was having a little trouble with Adrian, as he considered the Black Mesa research facility to be a splotch on his plans and he needed to sterilize it. Nuking it was the quickest and "cleanest" way possible, but Shepard deactivated the nuke because the Black Ops were another faction and against him. Shepard never received the order to kill the research and security personnel, so he tried to save them by deactivating the nuke. The GMan rescued him from the exploding Gene Worm, stating that he was busy with "other matters", namely Freeman. Shepard was troublesome, but earned his life and the GMan put him in suspended animation for an indefinite amount of time, a place where "he could cause no harm and where no harm could come to him." Shepard may be called back into action, but he isn't employed by the GMan. Did I clear anything up for you?
Yes...
OP Is dumb.
[QUOTE=Nerdeboy;16676066]It was 20 years. Barney Calhoun is the true hero.[/QUOTE] It's actually 17 years
