Since the tf2 update, my computer is shitting itself

Ok so, since the update, when i join a server i usually get 30-50 fps for a few minutes, then suddenly, everything drops to 3-10 fps. I've read other threads like this and i tried updating my drivers/virus scanning/checking my video card heat/turning down tf2 to the lowest settings. i'm out of ideas, anyone care to lend a hand?
r_cleardecals
see if that fixes it.
I've had it happen once and that fixed it, but i dunno.
How hot is your room where the pc is located.
Its in the living room, about 60-70 degrees, and do you mean r_cleardecals in console?
yeah.
What are your gpu temps?
Assuming you know how to find out (i cant remember, fucking mac).
Use HWmonitor (google it, noob).
Any other suggestions?

I have the same problem. Also affects L4D. I had this problem a few months ago but it seemed to fix itself. But just after the update it came back. Not the classless update itself, but the patch released the next day was what did it. I run both games on lowest settings, My CPU is between 55 and 65 degrees Celsius (about 140 Fahrenheit). The problem seems to occur when many models are being drawn on screen (i.e. looking out from the battlements on 2fort). If i look directly down in either game, fps returns to normal. This doesn't however, affect Half Life 2, probably because hl2 has lower requirements as it was released in 04.

try a different server. that happened to me while I went to go troll a AO server and I thought "must be karma" haha but I run great on Facepunch servers even though they have been acting fucked up lately
