So after Episode 3, Left 4 Dead 2 and Portal 2 (or whatever sequel is coming for it), what do you think Vavles next series will be?
Something Brilliant as usual. I'd imagine another storyline rich game.
Vavle has been out of production for years.
Prospero?
Prospero would be good as the next series
I've never heard of Prospero, some one fill me in.
I've never heard of Prospero, some one fill me in.
It was one of VALVe's first projects. However many of the ideas were used in Half-Life instead. Half-Life became the main project and Prospero just sorta faded away. [editline]03:25AM[/editline] Strait from Raising the Bar, in VALVe's own words: "Prospero was one of Valve's first game designs. Originally slated to come out shortly after Half-Life, the game emphasized exploration, an intricate storyline, and combat via "psionic" powers. Prospero's heroine (known as "The Librarian" or "Aleph") underwent a series of design changes during the early development of the game. One iteration relied heavily on the use of hardware psionic amplifiers to augment her innate abilities. As the design on Quiver started to take over some of Prospero's initial goals, Prospero started to change into a massively multiplayer game. Prospero was also intended to be distributed with a complicated mix of Valve and user-created worlds accessed through the in-game "library," each world running on a different server. Online distribution, a server browser, a friend finder, and other ambitions initially developed for Prospero never quite died, but found a new home in what was eventually to become Half-Life, as well as Steam." [editline]03:27AM[/editline] Quiver is Half-Life by the way, that was the original name.
Quiver? Ew. Thank god they changed that :v:
Ricochet Source? I think they will come up with something new, like L4D was.
Quiver? Ew. Thank god they changed that :v:
The word "Quiver" makes me think of larva.

an entirely new game arch since most employees will have passed away by the time all that stuff is done
This Prospero thing sounds interesting.
Quiver is was the project name, and was an homage to Steven King's The Mist, where something similar happens. The project that unleashes hell is called Arrowhead.
An Half-life MMorpg, So they can ruin the series just as well as blizzard did with warcraft 3 > World of warcraft.. /Sarcasm

I think they should move away from Source and make a new engine before starting another series.
Fuck shit up. [editline]07:49PM[/editline] I can only hope.
^-Greatest game ever -^
Ivan the Space Biker YYYEEEEEEEEEESSSS
They are going to do what they did with half life. Take you through the same story through someone elses eyes.
I think they should move away from Source and make a new engine before starting another series.
That'll take years :(
Prospero would be sweet, doesn't valve employees keep mentioning they'd like to do an MMO? Or was that just Gabe?
I want to see more linear games with story lines, they seem to be great at that
Fuck shit up.
YES. YES. Yeeeessss.
