Just a simple question. If you didnt know, its basically TFC remade in source with some tweaks (E.G spy has no gas grenade), and new features (customizable crosshairs and shit) Back to the title - Do any of you play it? i dont see many people on..
No.
I have it but haven't started it up in a few months now. Seems a lot like a plain deathmatch game to me
The mod hit a very bad time for it's first release. Being two days before the release of the TF2 pre order beta.
If you can't/don't want to play TF2, play TFC instead. It always has at least one active server and really you aren't missing anything. Also the community is arguably more tolerable than either FF or TF2's. Although that doesn't say much.
I do have TFC, but its an old disc copy (HL1) and i never see servers on.
Well FF has even fewer active servers than TFC does.
Still though - It would be pretty cool if more people played.
i did until it p much became tfc and had all of 3 available servers
I USED to play FF. It was decent. I was soldier and I blew this mofo's leg off. I liked how you could gib someone with an explosive without destroying his entire body. Only a small portion of it
I do have TFC, but its an old disc copy (HL1) and i never see servers on.
I see plenty of servers with players:
I played it a tad bid a year ago, community was very elitist.

I played it for a bit, but it got boring after a while.

Fun activity, go on TFC or FF and ask why they aren't playing TF2. Enjoy the humorous reactions :v:
FF is really nice. Mostly everything I don't like about TFC fixed. Mostly.
Wasn't this the one with all the bunny hopping
Wasn't this the one with all the bunny hopping
Pretty much yes :v: But i admit its fun to see how fast i can capture the flag as a scout on 2fort.
I played it awhile back. It felt a lot like TFC's love letter to the Source engine. It's fun if you really like TFC, but if you don't then there's not much appeal in it.
I actually tried to start it up yesterday. I haven't played for over 6 months. When I got on I couldn't find any servers though.
FF is really nice. Mostly everything I don't like about TFC fixed. Mostly.
Agreed. They did a goob job making the game more fluid and beginner-friendly, but there was some dumb stuff, especially in the later patches. I love how they buffed the Pyro and fixed CZ2 tho. I was a beta tester for it when it was still alive. I think I left at a good time, as they were thinking about replacing a lot of useful grenades like the MIRV with dumb gimmicky crap. The only good idea they were working on when I stopped playing was a slow field grenade for the Heavy so that he could help slow down offense, which was a good idea. The other ideas were crap like a laser grenade for the Soldier, which was basically the same thing as the Nail Grenade, but it didn't spam projectiles. hooray And FF's gib system is so much better than TF2's that it isn't funny. Making a dude go airbourne with a missing leg when you killed him with a rocket legshot never, ever got old. It was the FF version of the classic TFC "make a guy go flying into the air in his death animation when you kill him with the RL". I think if TF2 hadn't come out so soon, I think FF would've stood a chance. As it is, it came out at the worst time, and was less noob-friendly than TF2 when it was first released. They managed to solve that in later patches, but by that time, people had gotten so used to TF2 that they didn't want to give FF a shot because it was more complex.
I installed it recently for Mountable Gmod content, player heads are messed up though. I'm waiting for eventual bots to be made.
I tried to pick it up, but every server I went to were full of people pointing out that Fortress Forever is sooooo much better than TF2 and that anyone who plays TF2 over FF is an idiot. I was banned from a server due to saying that TF2 wasn't all that bad.

TFC is better, even with bots.
tfc is a good alternative to tf2. i wish it was updated but i'm just being optimistic. ff is, however, a piece of shit. it has no servers and everything is so geared towards COMPETITIVEEEEEEEEE it's not even a FUN game. if you want to get a mod nobody plays, take goldeneye source.
I do believe that the disk copy, is like the Half-Life 1 disk copy, without any steam in it, an older version of the game.
At least with Half-Life 1 you can just take the CD-key and register it on Steam.
FF was fun for 5 minutes. TF2 was ok, can't really say I've played it much in the two years its been out, but its no TFC, I'm not keen on the maps in TF2. Just about every map that made the conversion from TFC to TF2, I didn't like. Especially Well, and Badlands Also: Avanti, Epicenter, Casbah, Push, Flagrun, Cz2, Hunted, Where were they? I guess TF2 is a bit like HL2, it ticks all the right boxes, but I can't help feeling it has all been done before. The buzz the first time around was so much better, it was un-explored territory. I almost forgot - Warpath & Yard, shame on me!
The only thing really fun about it to me was escort. Smacking a murderous killing machine with an umbrella never felt so rewarding.
