Well I played and got the Platinum Trophy in God of War III and on the trophy name was a link to the site called Spartans Stand Tall. Link: http://www.godofwar.com/spartansstandtall/ Haven't found any any official proof of what it means, but there are some hypothesis's of what it might be. Links below. Well GoW3 is the last game in the series, right? So I'm guessing this is hinting to their new game.
That inverted "V" symbol is the Greek letter "L" [Lambda (uppercase Λ, lowercase λ; Greek: Λάμβδα or Λάμδα)]. The Spartans used the red Greek capital letter lambda (Λ) displayed on their shields as an identification as the people of Lacedaemonia (Λακεδαιμωνία), which in historical times, was the proper name of the Spartan state as used by Thucydides in his histories. The citizen of Lacedaemonia was called Lacedaemon (Λακεδαίμων). Early Greek shields had various patterns on them, but then began to adopt the letter of their city. There is a story of an action in Corinth in which some passing Spartans who were unarmed picked up some shields of warriors from Sikyon which had an S on them to oppose a sally by Corinthians. The latter, being Dorians like the Spartans, thinking them mere Achaeans, ran right through them, rather than thinking twice if they had known who they were picking on.
It's not a number.
Sounds like it's going to be a big bash-up game where you play as one of the 300. I hope it is.
I hope it's not. I'd like something different than GoW
I think it will be another God of War game, but a new story. There has been speculation throughout the series of [sp]Kratos having an un-named, unidentified brother, which has been mentioned numerous times throughout the games as subtext or briefly in conversation. There is a lot of evidence to further prove this, including when Kratos is sifting his way through the dream sequence after fighting Zeus, one of the voices mentions "Brother", the voice of someone NOT in the game. Not Hercules, not anyone.[/sp] Then again, it's still speculation.
