Before any of you think this is going to be a shitstorm argument over which type of gaming is better, it's not. I need your opinions on which type of gamer I should be. I used to be a console gamer way back in the PS1 days, until 8 years ago when I discovered PC gaming. Ever since then, I have been a PC gamer and despised console gaming. Now I'm thinking about switching back to the console gaming scene by getting a PS3. If I do, I will ditch PC gaming all together. Here's what I can think of so far about the advantages and disadvantages of each type: PC Gaming Advantages: - Very convenient, I spend a lot of time on the computer (i.e. on facepunch, youtube etc..) so quitting and entering a game is fast and easy, just a click away. - Controls are easy. FPS games are simple, aiming is quite easy with a mouse since the speed of moving my gun is pretty much determined by me. - If I need a new system to play new games, I can simply upgrade my system, a lot cheaper than buying a whole new one. - Mods for gaming is better for PC gaming, can be very well done. Disadvantages: - PC Gamers recieve games a lot later than their console counterparts ... and sometimes not at all (i.e. Red Dead Redemption) - Technical Issues lie within PC gaming more often. Console Gaming Advantages: - Not as much technical issues as PC. Once plugged in, game away. - Don't have to worry if your system is good enough, console games are built for consoles, they will work, if it doesn't, chances are it's not your fault. No need to worry about how much RAM you have etc... - Recieve games on time. Also, I find there are a bit more better console exclusive games than PC exclusive games. Disadvantages: - I will have to buy a new tv for the PS3, that along with the PS3 will most likely cost up into the thousands - Aiming in FPS will suck, I hate sometimes over shooting my aim since it's not determined solely by my hand movement. - Controlls in general will be fustrating, though maybe I will get used to it? - PS1, PS2, PS3 .... new consoles are always coming out, I will be stacking up on old consoles in my house. Which ever gaming saves more money in the long run is actually a big plus for me. So guys, what's your opinion. Which type of gaming is more worth it? -The title- wasn't really a good idea. But a little of both wouldn't kill anyone. Also; Are most of your friends PC gamers/Console Gamers? If they are pc gamers, spend the cash on a high end pc, if not, do otherwise.
Oh boy, here we go again!
Dear god, not this again...
;26629795'] - PS1, PS2, PS3 .... new consoles are always coming out, I will be stacking up on old consoles in my house.
You shouldn't worry about that. If a successor to the PS3 is released, you can just ignore it at the moment and stick with the PS3, which already has a great library of games instead of buying the expensive new console with a few launch games.
We don't need to hear this shit again!
Wait why does getting a PS3 mean you can't get a PC and vice versa? Just get whichever you prefer the most now and the other option later if you like. Just because you roll with one platform doesn't mean you have to be elitist.
-The title- wasn't really a good idea.
There a way I can change it? I had a feeling it might give the wrong impression.
You shouldn't worry about that. I don't think every PS3 gamer would switch in a split second to the PS4.
Wait why does getting a PS3 mean you can't get a PC and vice versa? I don't want to have to worry about upgrading my PC while I'm playing a PS3 game, or having to buy a new PS4 while I'm playing a PC game. I guess I'm just a simple person.
Console play with school friends pc play with fp
;26629795'] Which ever gaming saves more money in the long run is actually a big plus for me. So guys, what's your opinion. Which type of gaming is more worth it?
Ok you know I think that this thread is pretty much over.
Actually, it's about 300 dollars for a 32" LCD HDTV, most 46" tvs are about $700. If you don't want to bother with that, get an HDMI to component converter.
Ok you know I think that this thread is pretty much over.
My decision isn't soley based upon that. I would still choose which ever costs more. Just that if one option seems better AND saves money, that would just be pretty good.
Usually these kinds of threads turn into a flaming-fest. Just saying.
pc
I am more of a console gamer myself, being the owner of a 360, a PS3 and getting a Wii for Christmas. I prefer consoles because they will always run the game and I prefer a joystick. (Yes, I know I can get one for PC and that should be no excuse, but still...) Though if it's Indie or Multiplayer, you bet I will probably get in on PC instead of consoles. (If it's available.)
I think getting a high-end PC would cost me less than getting an HD console, since I don't have an HDTV.
Usually these kinds of threads turn into a flaming-fest. Just saying.
Well shit. I'm a 10'er so I haven't come across one of these threads before. I tried to give it a neutral feel in the OP since I know there are fanboys out there who argue over these things.
I think getting a high-end PC would cost me less than getting an HD console, since I don't have an HDTV.
Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Though with a PC I might have to end up upgrading from time to time. Adding up a cost. Whereas with a console, once I get the TV I won't need another for a very very long time.
It's really all up to your personal preference. Do you want to play games with a Keyboard/mouse or a controller? However, you did mention that you want to save money in the long run, so sticking to the PC may be the option you want. Console games are priced $10 more than the PC counter-parts at release. Also, Steam has sales practically everyday, and an upcoming Holiday sale as well. The way I see it, the main advantage to owning a console is the ability to play games in split-screen. Almost no PC games utilize this feature, and playing with friends sitting next to you is always fun.

For me it depends on what games you're wanting and what most of your friends have because playing with friends is always the most fun.
this "console vs pc" horseshit is getting lame. they both have their own strengths and weaknesses. the pc gets the best console games but still has its own unique library, and the consoles have their own unique games in addition to having stable hardware. at this point choosing between the pc or a console is a matter of what back catelogue you want.
Most of my friends are console gamers. Well, actually all of them. But playing with friends isn't a big thing for me. Gaming is just for pure fun and enjoyment. Something on the side for me. I haven't seen any console/pc threads in here before. As I said, a shitstorm isn't what I'm looking for, so far it hasn't happened.
PC
I personally Find Psn Awkward I Mean unless you get a Mic You have to press the ps button (if your in game) wait for like 5 seconds for it to load go over to send message to a certain person Slowly as ever type in your message and then send it,Then you realise you just died 7 times.

I play both on PC and 360, and most of my friends only play on consoles. I was able to turn two of my friends to PC gaming goodness though.

Then I remembered 90% of talk in gaming is just flame wars. Communication isn't much of a loss for me.
;26630512']I was thinking that too. Then I remembered 90% of talk in gaming is just flame wars. Communication isn't much of a loss for me. Ahk, I misunderstood you there.
Communication is big If you want to make friends Without friends it becomes boring.
This is how I understand it. PC: All ages. Wii: 12 and under PS3: 13 to 16 Xbox 360: 15 to -> At least by what games are released on these consoles, that is how I see it. The Xbox 360 is being buttfucked by M-rated shooters while the PS3 has some more, uh, interesting games. I may own an Xbox 360, I still don't really use it except for the odd game of Skate 2, Mirror's Edge or Halo Reach. I'm a PC gamer. :3:
uh what why would PS3 be 13-16
