CUBE mod : Half-Life 2 meets Portal meets Lost (Other-Life Mods) - Games

Part of some giant project called OTHER-LIFE brought upon us by a team of Russians trying to create a fan-made universe mixing the Half-Life 2 universe and the LOST (the series) universe, the CUBE mod is about some guy trapped in some giant traps, you'll easily recognize some influences such as Cube (the movie), Lost (the SARMA initiative, a pun on DARMA...), but also Fringe (some hallucinations)... I guess the team members are big fans of J.J. Abrahms... Portal will also come in mind with that Aperture Science cubes, that "physgun" really looking like the gun from HL2 Beta... There are also many "moving" map's not unlike what we see in Portal 2... So far, it's pretty interesting, and the beta testers left comments on how the mod is long (like 9-10 hours), cool, and really enjoyable. Here are their other projects : Hatch 18 : [url]http://www.moddb.com/mods/hatch-18[/url] , which has already a short demo being playable. and Other-Life : [url]http://www.moddb.com/mods/other-life[/url] I'm only at chapter 2 so I can't tell how the whole thing will turn but it seems rather unique and pretty cool. There are many Glados-styled explanations panels on what you have to do on each level.

It's not MY mod. And personally, Blue Portals can be "leaked" for the greater good, as BP was such a difficult task (except for speedrunners of portal) that it's cool to see its content used in a cooler and less difficult mod. It's stupid they didn't contact the dev's first, of course, but come on : they are RUSSIANS. That's it. Now stop talking about the leak : the file is already no more on moddb. If it was suddenly incredibly popular and successful, and used your stuff without permission, how would you feel? If they then went so far as to imply it was THEIR content? How about then? What if they tried to make money off of it? You're the one being childish here. The creator of that mod stole content from someone else, and you're defending them. You are defending a thief, on the grounds that being upset that they STOLE the content is "childish".

They should have resolved this little problem (come on, this is only about free mods) in private conversation, not in public. You'll see, tomorrow everything will be okay and that there was no need of all of that nervous shit. Now, that will mark that poor team which does its best to still provide us with quality mods (haven't you noticed that since 1 year or 2, there is a substantial fall of the number of Source mods), they will be marked as the "thief team", "these guys who rob others"... the mods themselves look pretty cool, not cool about the stealing though. However, I will be following them.
