so me and my friends want to create a private server so we can film and maybe all hang out and play together so does anybody know how to do that
did you join just to post that?
Derp derp what game?
http://thegeekescape.com/?p=71 Basically, you and your friends need a program called LogMeIn Hamachi ("Hamachi" for short), you make a network with it, and your friends join. You start any Source game and enter
sv_lan 0
and hit "Create Server". Once your server is up, tell your friends to join via the "connect" command followed by <Hamachi's fake IP>:27015. For example, connect 1.2.345.67:27015 (Note that the above is an example, and will not actually connect you to a server if put into the console.)
Or you could forward a port by going to http://portforward.com/ Then create the server. But that may be harder
That's definitely harder. And a bit less safe.
How so?
How so?
hackers can connect to the server that way and delete your pc
hackers can connect to the server that way and delete your pc
Are there any effective anti-spyware tools or Virus Blockers
it was a joke
it was a joke
Still i like not to risk anything. The least they can do is use the server against me
Still i like not to risk anything. The least they can do is use the server against me
...Use Hamachi, when you create your network, make sure you use a secure long password, that way nobody unwanted can come on your network.
Be careful though because the server may get a SECRET VIRUS and start deleting files so you'll have to find the secret ADMIN GUN to shoot the VIRUS PARTICLES using the ANTIVIRUS FUNCTION of the GUN.
How about just setting a password, doing that sv_lan 0 - thing, and the going to play?
Umm... No. It simply isn't that easy. Hamachi really is the way to go.
Umm... No. It simply isn't that easy. Hamachi really is the way to go.
Actually it is that easy, At times it works. If it doesn't, Hamachi time!
Umm... No. It simply isn't that easy. Hamachi really is the way to go.
Yep, it is that easy. Has so far worked on me.

Now I don't have to fuck with my ports anymore. :downs: Have a heart, Gamma.
That's definitely harder. And a bit less safe.
Can I punch you please? Or put your post in that "Computer illiterate people who think they know things v3" thread?
Can I punch you please? Or put your post in that "Computer illiterate people who think they know things v3" thread?
Nope, you cannot. Why?
Nope, you cannot. Why?
Because port forwarding isn't less safe nor is it hard?
Because port forwarding isn't less safe nor is it hard?
Hamachi is still easier.
