I'm stuck between which game I should get. I like to play pvp but I do like the occasional dungeon raid also. I played WoW for awhile and need a change. I would be using a macbook (don't bug me about this) with 2.0Ghz core2duo, 4GB of ddr3 ram, and a 9400m with 512mb video ram shared with main memory. I considered Age of Conan but there is no way it would be playable on my laptop. Thanks in advance!
lotro: pve
war: pvp
war: pvp
lotro: pve
wow: ???
I'd go with Warhammer Online. LOTRO is pretty boring I think.
Does WAR work on Macs?
Anyways, WAR has better PvP, and i love the crafting system lol.
But LOTRO can be more fun with PvE.
I personally enjoy WAR more though, LOTRO got kind of boring after a while.
LOTRO is the game you play to wean yourself off of MMOs.
I've been playing WAR for a week or so now and haven't found a bit of it I don't like.
I like the music system in LOTRO (I think more MMOs should have stuff like that), but I found WAR a lot easier to get into and I find it more fun.
Far as MMOs go, WAR and WoW are the most accessible.
LOTRO is pretty good, but lacks in a lot of departments. There's also Everquest 2 which I highly recommend you looking at; it has great PvE, probably the best in any MMO, and the best world. It also has pretty good PvP and fun gamemodes in the arena like Capture the Flag and stuff.
LOTRO couldn't really keep my attention, was too methodical and just seemed (except for a few features) just like every other MMO. WAR kept me interested quite a while, but you realize pretty quick that the PvE is utter crap except for the public quests which are pretty neat the first 1 or 2 times and then become boring for the other 50 times you have to do them to get the renown for that area. The RvR is pretty interesting for a while, but it has some serious balance issues (see invincible greenskin shamans) and it also gets old after a few days.
I'm just going to put my view of Everquest 2 out there, and keep in mind, this is my opinion.
Everquest 2 is a really well made game overall, and it's world seems to differ itself through the detail that many games overlook. Where games do different things to make their game seem like a world like how WAR used the whole feeling of a giant war (which it does very well) to make the world seem alive, Everquest 2 uses lots of NPCs that seem to have personalities of their own sometimes, and due to the large amount of voice work they did, a lot of them actually TALK to you, not just some floating speech bubble and you don't always have to click on them to have them acknowledge you. What this does is makes it where you can walk through town and not see a single player but the city still seems to be alive and populated. EQ2 also manages to keep your attention once you get past the small learning curve at the beginning, which isn't really a learning curve per-say, but it's just different from other MMOs. The combat is pretty different as grouping up with other players allows the use of skills that otherwise wouldn't present themselves through the Heroic Opportunity skill. This means that working together with other people is rewarding and unique, but you can still solo very well. There's also the crafting system which is interactive so you don't have to just watch a bar fill up 600 times and the player housing that give you something to do other than combat if you wish.
What that makes for me is a game that keeps my attention and keeps me coming back rather than giving me a couple simple things to do so that I get bored easily.
Hope that is helpful.
I've been considering EQ2. I've tried WoW, which brought me close to vomiting, LotR:O, which I rather enjoyed, and WURM, which I've spent countless hours in. I like MMOs, so I'm wondering if I should give it a try.

You should.
If you decide to, just PM me your e-mail and I can give you a 14 day unrestricted trial thing.
I downloaded the trial right after that post. It is still downloading, but I'll send you a PM anyway.
I've heard bad things about LotRO but I've heard the PVP in WO is great
War
[QUOTE=PowerBall v1;14399760]war: pvp

I've never played WoW, but judging from what other people have said, I would say best of both worlds.
OR
PvE times a thousand.
OR you're a few months to late. Just because you brought it back, I'll throw in my opinion. And that would be (from personal experience) LOTRO.
OR yeah I bumped it because there are no active threads about WAR :(

Because the game's practically dead, Mythic is on the slippery slope to not being a company anymore, and the game itself has been driven into the ground.
The Champions Online beta was hella fun. I want to buy it when it comes out.
i didnt like Champions Online very much, it's basically City of Heroes/Villains but with more of an annoying comic book feeling
on another note, i dont even remember making this thread =/
I just played an hour or three of EVE, and I am already in love with it :D
Warhammer hands down.
