The story for Arkham City takes place one year after the events of Arkham Asylum. Quincy Sharp, former warden of Arkham Asylum, has taken credit for stopping the Joker, and used that notoriety to become mayor of Gotham City. As neither Arkham nor Blackgate Prison are in any condition to hold inmates, Sharp buys out a large section of Gotham's slums and arms the perimeter with private military contractors from a group called Tyger in order to create "Arkham City". The prisoners are brought into Arkham City and are given free rein, as long as they do not attempt escape. To oversee the city, Sharp uses psychiatrist Hugo Strange who appears to have his own secret agenda for the city. Batman maintains a vigil over the city, worried that the situation may get out of hand. Part of the setup for "Arkham City" was contained in plans in a hidden room in Sharp's office in Arkham Asylum.
This, is amazing.
I want to play Arkham Asylum again now.
Batman VS Splinter Cells
oh my god.
I knew it was a good idea to start playing Arkham Asylum again. Getting pumped up for this!
SPOILER WARNING: Batman does indeed continue to be a total bad-ass in the sequel.
fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck
I can't wait
Hopefully, we'll see some more at Spike's VGA's, seeing as that is where it was announced last year. I cannot wait for this game. The first one was one of my favorite games of all time.
Batman doesn't need any fucking night vision goggles, he's motherfucking batman.
I thought it was live action at first.

same thing i was thinking
I hope they don't have that Xray bat vision again (Forgot what it was called) It kinda ruined the fun of the game a bit. Knowing you could just use that ALL the time and know where everybody is

If you don't like it, don't use it so often. A little self control goes a long way.
I, on the other hand, adored it. It really helped out during the "predator" sequences. Mostly because it made me feel like a Predator, as in "Crab-faced invisible alien guy who fought Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny Glover" Predator. It reminded me of the Predator's infrared vision (blue background with the targets highlighted in colors associated with "heat" (like red)), except, ya know, Batman was using X-ray and not infrared...
The devs have said they're going to include a same or similar system to "detective vision" but they are intending to limit its use more so you can actually see the game instead of x-ray vision for the whole thing.
What are some conclusions we can draw from this? Here are a few things:
(1) Sam Fisher could not withstand a mean right-hand hook from Batman.
(2) The soldier at the beginning sounds too much like Gaz.
(3) Enemies now might have Batman's Detective Mode. We can conclude this because "Sam Fisher" located Batman in the dark.
(4) Batman, despite being located, still wins, and this is probably because he's using his new gadget called the broadcast tracer, which allows him to pinpoint enemies.

But he's the GODDAMN BATMAN.
I really need to beat Asylum but it crashes for me for some reason

Now I want a Batman Mask on like the Heavy in TF2 so I can at least feel a little badass.
Too bad I never will... :smith:
As for the game itself: I want to go replay Arkham Asylum now.

Preorder Arkham City to receive a special Batman Mask in TF2!
Is it just me, or does Hugo Strange in the extended trailer sound a lot like Christopher Lee?
First time I saw the trailer I though it was live action.
Looks pretty awesome, also it would be nice to see Hugo Strange in the next batman film too.
Jesus fuck hell thats some good CG they got there.
I swear to GOD it looked like live action 75% of the time.

Batman, Ladies and gentlemen, the only superhero with the balls to kick people in the balls.
Remind me, who is Hugo Strange? Is he a kind of obscure villain, should I know him?
Just another criminal genius.

Same here, that's some amazing CGI.
This and The Mass Effect 3 trailer are the best trailers I ever saw.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution wants a word with you.
I never expected Hugo Strange. Good choice, though, should be interesting.
