I recently realized how awesome old giant robot games and stuff were for the first playstation and stuff and was wondering if they are any really good games out of this kinda type. I'm reading about Front Mission Evolved and it looks pretty awesome but i was wondering if any fans of this kinda genre knew what exactly i should be looking for. recomendations/etc. Do any recent ones have nice online multiplayer/coop and customization and whatnot? Wondering if any one game is very popular or good. Im just wondering if this is a genre i should get into or just wait for brink and crysis 2
Mechwarrior 4. Don't expect an arcade though, its the closest you'd get to a simulator.
Mech Assault series Mech Assault 2: Lone Wolf is one of my favorite games
i played mechwarrior before, it was either 2 or 3 but i didnt seem to have a multiplayer thing, do any have co-op?
Mechwarrior 4 is awesome and you can get it free, and it has multiplayer. However it is old and if you are a graphics whore you will probably hate it. Another great choice is mechwarrior living legends, a mod for crysis. It looks great and has not only mechs but tanks and fighters. The mod is free but obviously you need to own crysis (the original), but you can generally buy that for <$20 these days.

would say chrome hounds, but Sega shut down the severs.
You shouldn't really get Mechassault. They are okay but they are consolized watered down arcadey versions of Mechwarrior. Plus Mechwarrior 4: Mercs is free. Get it at mektek.net [editline]22nd December 2010[/editline]
Yeah I think mech warrior 4 has a coop against bots mode which is pretty fun.
There are coop conversions of the sp maps.
SHOGO :iia: I want a new one :saddowns:. Mech games seem to be few and far between, hardly any new and ones that are are kinda terrible (Front Mission Evolved).

Front Mission series http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Front_Mission never knew Square would been keen to absorb someone that didn't make shit like Final Fantasy Evoloved is pretty much you control the mech but before that it was more RTS
Crisis with the Mechwarrior mod, Its incredibly fun. I think it's based on the Mechwarrior game too. [editline]23rd December 2010[/editline] Crysis is on sale btw. In the mod you can destroy specific parts on the enemy such as an arm or a legg, you can also walk around in a battlearmor witch is a small suit, witch you're wearing when you're not in a mech, with smaller weapons, you can eject, you can drive other vehicles such as VTOLs, airplanes, tanks, and more. The mechs also have different special tools such as jumpjets or defense laser witch shoot enemy missiles.
