• So I tried to play Vice City on steam...

You know when you get that irresistible urge to sit your ass in a chair and play the most hardcore game of all time, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City? Well I got the itch, and fired up steam to serve as my backscratcher. I had picked up a Rockstar Collection a few months ago, so Vice City was waiting patiently to be installed and played, and it installed in pretty good time, went as fast as any of my other downloads would, no complaints. I go to play the most epic game of all time, and what do you know, an error message. It went back and forth between "Error Code 51", and something along the lines of "The program is already open", despite no gta-vc.exe in task manager to be found. A quick search of Google told me error code 51 usually has to do with software interfering with steam, but a huge life of known problem programs didn't show anything I was running, so I was stuck Vice City free and with little other information to be found. At this point, I had to put on my tough guy face, and venture into darker, more Scandinavian areas of the internet, where I scored a cracked .exe, designed to allow you to play Vice City without having to use a legitimate Game Disc, or any game disc at all. I installed the cracked .exe to steam's Vice City installation, and have been playing problem free for an hour since. I'm all for supporting game developers, they deserve to be paid for their hard, risk-heavy work, but I think it's pretty fucked up that warez groups are more dedicated to providing a working, pain-free release, then any legitimate ways of obtaining a game littered with DRM and unnecessary problems. I'll admit, there are far worse offenders then the steam platform, but if I'm going to choose to pay, because it is a choice these days, should I not get a product superior, or at the very least equal, to the cracked product? [/rant] TL;DR - My steam copy of Vice City wouldn't open and threw BS error messages at me, installing a cracked .exe made it work perfectly.
To be fair, it would probably be overlooked in the megathread.
Sad but true.
So apparently liking the software I paid for to actually work is dumb of me :-)
