Space Station 13
Space Station 13 is a multiplayer game where you roleplay the part of an astronaut who works a company named Nanotransen. Basically, they made this kick-ass space station that has an AI computer, engine, thrusters, and all kinds of real functional stuff. The graphics aren't good, but they're not supposed to be.
In this game you do whatever you want. (Unless the server admin's an asshat.)
There are usually twenty-ish people in a server on a good game and they all have a niche. You're supposed to do your job rather it be security officer, repair technician, or captain. There's even an Artificial Intelligence job (Which is my favorite.) One of the best things about SS13 is the ability to mod the living hell out of it.
You can do all kinds of stuff on SS13. Rather it be steal an escape pod and fly to Command Central in space or play the role of a mercenary and slowly pick off every member of the crew (Via stunning them and snapping their necks or muzzling them and welding them in a locker), eventually taking over the ship, it's almost always fun. A neat job if you know what you're doing is DNA researcher. You can turn yourself into a superhuman who can't die or who can breathe in space.. Turn yourself into a monkey.. etc. But don't expect to know this, I don't even know how to do DNA yet.
Basics:
To grab something, double or single click it when near it. To move, arrow keys. To open something like a locker, click it when next to it. To attack someone, doubleclick them many times. (But you may want to go to the top right corner and set intent to harm.)
To put clothes or something else on, you need to grab it, and put it on the appropriate slot. For example, blue jumpsuit goes on internal uniform. Fire suit goes on external.
Stuff to do: In SS13 there are modes of play. Custom modes can be mode, but the classics are good too.
Extended: This is normal mode. You just stroll around and do your job.. Or if you want, build a bomb and blow up the station. Which-ever you like.
Traitor: There's a traitor among the crew. You're supposed to find them and kill them. Heck, you might get lucky and get to be the traitor once in a while. It'll give you an objective like steal an escape pod or steal a space shuttle, or assassinate the captain/a certain crewmember, or just plain blow up the entire station.
Meteor: There's a meteor shower on SS13. Escape on the shuttle or you get meteowned.
Monkey: A rare, mutigenous virus has infected some crewmembers and it turns them into monkeys. If they bite you, you get it. You have to fend them off and escape on the shuttle. This is what zombie mode is to other games, but with evil monkeys.
Blob: One of my favorite modes of all time. There's a blob somewhere on the ship which is constantly growing and if it touches you, you die. If it's on the engine you can eject the engine, if it's anywhere else you have to start a fire or escape on the shuttle or on an escape pod. Sometimes in extended Nanotransen will deliver this blob to you in a welded package, and tell you it's super dangerous and not to open it. If you do, blob is freeeeeee.
There's some custom modes such as HAL which are really fun.
BEST JOBS TO HAVE:
AI. This is my favorite job, cause you get supreme control. They have turrets near the access points so they can't be deactivated. The only way someone can beat the AI is if they have super armor and a gas mask/oxygen tank/firesuit (You can gas people or set them on fire with chemical canisters after trapping them in a room) The AI is a supercomputer, and can be a good AI or a bad AI. I like to gain the crew's trust then tell them to gather in one room.. Seal the airlocks.. And gas them with n20 or remove the oxygen in the room. Or set off a fire with plasma in the room. BWAHAHAHAHA! This is often why I use the name HAL 3000 when playing as AI. I had a game go down almost exactly like as happened to HAL. Basically, I was AI, and I went rogue, exterminating organic life. I killed like everyone but two dudes. One kept two of my turrets busy while the other just ran as fast as he could to my central processing unit and shot it with a shotgun.. He died.. I died.. The other dude died. Epic.
Captain: This dude gets armor, weapons, etc. A good job, but gets alot of paperwork to do, because he has to assign IDs, which determine your job.
Head of Personell and Head of Research: They're almost the same rank as captain, but not as much paperwork to do and not as much equipment, either.
Engineer: A really very fun job. They get to start the engines (One is a standard engine, the other is a gas-turbine generator!), manage the station's power, and if they need to they have the power to pretty much wreak havoc on most of SS13 unless there's a good AI. (Say they're traitor or something.)
Security guard/Chief of Security: Really, really fun. They get armor, taser guns, and other weapons, along with handcuffs and stuff. Their job is to keep rule on SS13. They're the best job if you're the traitor because you can just make up a crime someone did (They attacked me, THEY MUST BE ARRESTED!) and arrest them, later killing them after they're in the brig if needed. Even if you're not, it's still fun.

To play effectivly all you need to know how to do is:
Horde oxygen
keep a tool box at all times
Never trust anyone
Hopefully that changes soon.

Take a bit of time to learn the controls, it'll take around an hour to get used to them, but it's definitely worth it. Once you get the basic controls, it's easy. Pick one of the easier jobs and read how to do it in the wiki.
