Andrew Reiner, executive editor of Game Informer is hinting towards big news for their February Issue cover reveal. He claims that there will be 5 game reveals in the issue, one being the cover story. "The most popular cover guesses are TES: V, Mass Effect 3, and Half-Life 3." One Twitter user, LeonSmrgshboard asks Andrew whether or not the big reveal has been previously announced. Andrew tells him that "It is a secret I have been keeping since 2009." Both TES: V and Mass Effect 3 were announced at the VGAs last night! And while I may be alone in this thinking, 2009 seems just around the right time-frame for HL3's development. While Browsing Andrew's twitter I have come across some quite intriguing notes: -Big news coming on www.gameinformer.com tomorrow. -@MrTissueBox We have 5 huge reveals in the next issue. You'll find out what they are soon! -@LeonSmrgshboard I've been keeping this secret since 2009. And you'll find out our cover soon enough. Whether or not this is Half Life 3, I do find it interesting that Andrew mentioned it as a popular possibility. Plus, with 5 games being revealed, could this be our moment? Discuss.
This is not mine, was posted by Spiah on Steam Forums.
Doubt it very much, but hoping so much that it's true :saddowns:
Unlikely. Keeping an open mind about it though.
Not gonna happen, I feel better not working myself up for it and just believing it wont happen that way I cannot be disapointed :)
There is no Half-Life 3 yet, Next game will be Episode 3 and maybe more episodes, and then if something bad happens to Gordon Freeman then Bam Half-Life 3.
2009 seems just around the right time-frame for HL3's development.
man what an awful typo for 2900
It can't be Half Life 3... Half Life 2 was fundamentally different from Half Life, we won't see a Half Life 3 until the story changes enough to warrant it. For now it is just a continuation of the Half Life 2 story, so it will still be called Episode 3.
Optimistic
Gameinformer was the same ones who did the exclusive stuff about portal 2, right?
Gameinformer was the same ones who did the exclusive stuff about portal 2, right?
Yes. And they've also announced Dota2.
Yes. And they've also announced Dota2.
And a lot other things.
And a lot other things.
But especially Valve stuff. Or at least the major releases have been announced by them.
i want to believe
since half life games seem to go further forward in time, i think halflife might become like a superhero comic. it just seems more and more like bullshit the further you go through rough estimates half life year 2000 ish tech, maybe a bit more+ teleportation half life 2- 2000 ish technology combined with 2020ish technology half life 3- 2020ish technology (assuming earth learns from the combine) combined with anywhere between 2050ish tech and 2500 tech half life 4- whatever half life 3s year of tech combined with 3000 ish tech first half life= little story, bullets 2nd- bullets and pulse weapons, attempted story 3rd- pulse weapons and lasers, story 4th- OMG WTF LAZORS, over the top story 5th (estimated date of release, the time period between 3 and 4) UBER HAX GUNSORZ AND ANIME STYLE STORY
Interesting but unlikely. Must NOT get hyped. Oh fuck got hyped.
first half life= little story
:frog:
No way. Then again, I could imagine Valve doing Episode 3 + Half-life 3 in one package. Just the kind of crazy shit they'd do.
Maybe they mean Episode Three, they're just saying Half-Life 3 because the general public probably wouldn't make the distinction.
Goddamnit Valve, stop it! Reading this article and thread it's like it has to be that, but I don't want to get worked up! Please don't be HL3.
It's not. http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2010/12/13/the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-coming-next-issue.aspx GameInformer, I am disappoint.
