So I downloaded Re-Volt for nostalgia sakes but when I try to run the game I get this error:
DDERR_INVALIDPARAMS Can't flip display buffers.
It's an old game with very low system requirements [release] P2 266 or higher 64 Meg RAM or higher Second Generation 3D Accelerator Card DirectX 6.0 or higher 102 MB of free hard disk space (DX compatible) 16 bit sound card or better Direct Play compatible Joypad [/release] I'm running Vista Business 64 bit and I have 2 gigs of ram and an 8800 GT. What can I do?
everyone in the facepunch video games section is an expert on your hardware and obscure d3d errors
Hmmmmmm... Could/should a mod move this thread? Wow, from the looks of things I could probably fit the whole game on my GPU's on board RAM!
Have you tried running it in Compatibility Mode? I think that game uses Windows 95 or 98. How did you acquire this download? I still got my old CD here.
Hello all, I tried the following and it works fine: 1- Install the re-volt patch 1.207 2- Copy the entire content to your re-volt folder (my one is c:\revolt). 3- Create a shortcut to the revolt executable. 4- Insert "-sli" on the "destination" line. 5- Click the compatibility tab and select "windows 98". 6- Select "run as administrator" That's all. Ciao.
There's your problem, it doesnt run on vista.
Runs fine on vista.
Runs fine on vista.
oh what the fuck, it didn't work on my old vista laptop :(
I got it to work though there is no music. :frown: Oh well.
IIRC the music is part of the CD (As an audio CD) - Like Age of empires 2 was. I recall putting my revolt CD into a CD player and hearing the game music (Try this with age of empires 2 ;))
I had this for PS1. I loved making the tracks.
Get VirtualPC Install win98 ??? PROFIT!!!
I had this for PS1. I loved making the tracks.
PC version is where it's at. Hah! Turns out that Re-Volt was developed just around the corner from where I live!
I had this for PS1. I loved making the tracks.
I remember my sister bit a part of the CD off, it still worked flawlessly though :downs:
Get VirtualPC Install win98 ??? PROFIT!!!
The VirtualPC graphics card is shit.
.
Thanks.
I used to LOVE this game on the PS1, I still have it in my basement.
I remember playing this game on my uncle's computer many years ago. He had a copied version of the game from someone else, and it was missing a car and some other data. I always wanted to buy game so I could play it at my house, and see the car that didn't work on my uncle's computer, but I never ended up doing so. Maybe I will after reading this thread. I also remember just going through the data files for the cars and changing stuff around, even making new "hybrid" cars using pieces from other cars. I tried using non-car parts for cars, but the game would crash when I used, for example, a trashcan instead of a wheel. My uncle got mad when I did this, because he said I messed up the game. I ended up having to reinstall it because I didn't think of creating backups, being probably 11 years old at the time.
Hell yes revolt. I would try just using an emulator, if your not.
