My steam games have been downloading really, really slow. I'd say about around 100 bytes-10 kilobytes per second. I live in Houston, but there are no servers there. So I have to use Dallas servers. Using Modem - 56k connection under options, but I'm not sure if Ethernet connections go along with it. I load these pages super fast though. Are servers just busy or is it my connection? Because I have LAN(Ethernet), and my internet loads lightning fast. Can I switch to a less busy server to get it faster? Or would that fuck up my stuff?
UPDATE:
Oh yes, I forgot to mention that I had XP and today I set up my new computer with Windows 7. Back on XP, I downloaded games fast and within 15-30 minutes. Now Steam has gotten really slow with downloads.
Eh mine have been slow all week. Probably due to the huge influx of downloads from the Christmas sale. It's a real pain in the ass to download all 24gb of Dragon Age: Ultimate Edition at ~150kb/s.
Set your download location to South Africa. It helps a bit.
Won't even let me login to my account. This is bad. :c
Good i thought i was the only one getting this
Modern Warfare 2 has been downloading for literally twelve hours.
alright my download speeds are very slowly increasing
77 bytes. :geno:
Same. I've been downloading New Vegas for 9 hours now and it's only at 70%. I live in Australia though. Dunno if it's just the game or the speeds.
Mine have been going slow for a while (22kb/s and slower, to 100kb/s), but they're going at 200-400kb/s now. I guess the worst is over.
Had Dead Rising 2 and Batman download while I slept.
Waking up to see them downloaded was awesome.
Well, it's obvious.
Theres alot of Steam sales on at the moment, resulting in everyone wanting to download their games.
