Hey everyone. Basically here's how it goes.
If you need any type of audio replaced in a game, request it here with the format, file name, description of what you want, and if possible, a preview of the original sound.
For example let's say you wanted to have a firing sound or footsteps or any type of ambient sound, etc replaced in counterstrike source with a professionally recorded high fidelity custom sound... you would request something along the lines of "the footstep sounds suck, can you make it sound more cinematic and maybe make it sound like I have a bunch of combat equipment on my vest and backpack?" etc.
I can get most sounds, but explosions and firearms sounds may be on a wait list for a few days to a few weeks since I have to actually go to a shooting range on a vacant day or wait until it stops snowing to record pyrotechnics.
I am aiming to gauge myself in terms of how well I can adhere to requests, as well as wanting to see how accurately I can reproduce requests.
Note: for games other than valve/source based games, it may take a little over a week until the sound is ready, since the majority of my game related sound experience is with the source and orange box engine; I do not know many other file conversions and proprietary formats for other game engines, as they usually are a bit more complicated than just "is it wav or mp3" and so forth.

Ask away! Some of my more crappy work can be found at http://www.fpsbanana.com/members/sounds/139018 , but give it a look anyway. I spent a lot of time doing audio work for the mod "No More Room In Hell", but unfortuneately I had to leave the team due to real life work needing to be prioritized.
I have some other old sounds that I had no use for or needed to redo, so I "recycled" the scrap sounds to freesound.org . Check them out at http://www.freesound.org/usersViewSingle.php?id=1029929 .
They do not represent my actual work too well being that they are outtakes and screwups as well as "just being bored" recordings.
These are examples of some of my better work for mods, private requests, etc.

Enjoy!
Do you do foley art?
Do you do foley art?
Indeed I do. I have enough crap and different types of surfaces in this house to last a lifetime, so generally speaking I can pull off any type of foley sounds.
I most definitely enjoyed creating blunt trauma sounds for No More Room in Hell, then listening to the final product and grossing myself out. All with the use of vegetables and driveway stones.
Check out the page turn sound in my old freesound account below. Most of the stuff is of no use to me, out takes, and unedited, so it's not in any way resembling the best of my work.

Replace every sound (see: EVERY) in HL2 with DOSH.

Reminds me of that one mod where this dude replaced every sound with his voice.

That is so sweet, I think I'll download it.
Replace every sound in HL2 with MW2. lol
I'm talking small sound packages guys, not every sound folder for every person haha.
I rather replace css with BC2 sounds over MW2, but I can't do neither due to copyright issues
If you think you're a decent enough voice actor, we could use one for our mod project, maybe. :D
Seeing as all of the examples of sound you gave us are the ones you are calling crap, it would be nice to have an example of a sound that isn't crap, so we know what we're getting.
Replace HL2 sounds with L4D sounds, I think someone's done that already, but I can't seem to find it anymore.
I think I need to re explain some things. My fault for not making it clear in the first place, so here goes for future reference guys:
I will record/create sounds requested, but I will not take existing game sounds and replace files with them. This takes little effort, and my goal is to exercise my own creativity and experience to create audio, not simply rename files.
I also will not do large sound packs, unless it is a single medium sized folder with short files, for example the voice commands for CS:S etc.
This is not because I don't like doing large soundpacks, and it is not because I don't like replacing sounds from other games to another. I actually enjoy doing both alot depending on the situation, but my purpose of making this thread is to create.
Hope that clears things up everybody :)

P.S. If someone can provide me with a simple, free, easy to use file hosting site where I can upload around 200MB of audio files in a folder, I will be able to provide a large portfolio for all to see of my more professional audio work.

It's possible, send me more details to my inbox or in this thread and how I can reach you, mod db page, etc etc

I'll be glad to do it. But I don't have MW2 sounds, so meh.

People who respect the laws that dictate whether they continue in their career field, or get charged with copyright infringement? You may think it hardly ever happens to people, but I personally have known dozens of people who were forced to pay fines upward of 5,000$ for download regiments that most people would consider zilch.
On top of that, being in the audio career field and having your content seen by large amounts of people makes it much more likely to get caught.

In that case I might have to cancel my request. My mod is chock full of copyrighted music. But then again, ours isn't some big awesome mod like Galactopticon or City 17: Episode One or something. It's just a small comedy mod made with mostly a few friends, for the fun of it. :D

I have used it before for projects that were paid for by the team, but other than that I've no idea about thefree half of it. I'll look into it shortly and hopefully have a link ready in a few hours.

you know if you use someones dropbox referral link you can get 250mbs extra space in your inventory.
it usually comes with 2 GBs though so you should already have enough space

That is the link to a short list of examples of my work for various mods, private requests, etc.
I have hundreds more, but most are for projects that are still in progress such as No More Room in Hell, and can not be leaked.
Sound replacing Is probably the most simple thing anyone can ever do to modify a Source game, why make a thread about it?
Sound replacing Is probably the most simple thing anyone can ever do to modify a Source game, why make a thread about it?
1. Because the sounds said people use to replace original sounds with come from the recording, editing, and other work by audio engineers and audio hobbyists such as myself, not from thin air.
2. Using your imagination to deal with and create audio is fun. You may think it is simply a matter of going "okay that obviously is the right sound to use", when actually, it requires thinking differently, sometimes in a strange fashion, and very creatively to get a sound that stands out. I don't know about you, but being creative in a way that other people can benefit from it is a cool feeling, and being creative successfully is just fun altogether.
3. I make tons of sounds every week that just sit on my hard drive doing absolutely nothing. I have a personal need to continuously create audio, kind of like an addiction. I want this to not be wasted. I also want to take requests and receive feedback in order to better define and polish my skills in audio design. I would do this on FPSbanana, and I still do- but only to receive feedback. Sound requests on FPSbanana are rare, so I need a place to practice taking actual requests, like facepunch, since in a real audio job you are constantly taking requests...more like demands... from the director or manager of the project.
Could you make a sound file of something that sounds similar to a horse walking along cobblestone/the street for the Demoman when he is charging with the Chargin' Targe in TF2?
Could you make a sound file of something that sounds similar to a horse walking along cobblestone/the street for the Demoman when he is charging with the Chargin' Targe in TF2?
Will do, I'll message you a download link in several hours to 24 hours.
Do you want it to be a horse running/galloping sound, or just walking ?
Could you make a sound similar to this,
http://starmen.net/mother2/soundfx/die.wav
and make it into the death sound for tf2? I would do this but I don't have the tools, and I don't know if just pasting the file would work because it's 16-bit.

I will get to it.

Sorry for the delayed response, but galloping,
Hey DaveOfDefeat, wanna add me on steam? I'm also into this sounds and mixing thing. I'm fairly good at it.
