• Dirt 2 - Worth £7.49?

I'm thinking about getting this game but even when I have a lot of money I get to cautious about 'wasting' it as i've made that mistake so many times before! So is this game worth the £7.49 it is reduced to? How is the single player? Importantly, how is the multiplayer, do many people play this online? I won't ask about gameplay as I played the demo and could run it on 1680x1050 with High graphics so that's alright. Persuade me to get it if you think it is worth it! Or, persuade me not to get it if you see the game is pointless. (Also, my birthday tomorrow :D Don't worry, I wasn't throwing a cheeky hint for a present ;D)

The single player features a LOT of types of races, though I was a little disappointed because there weren't a lot of actual rally races. The multiplayer is fun and can keep you playing for quite a long time. You should buy it, because it's cheap, fun and really good looking.
It's really worth it. Even though it doesn't have the standard rally left. It's still great fun, interesting cars and so on.
Yep, get it. I bought it quite a while ago and I still play it now. Rallying with a buddy online is rather fun. Quite nice being able to mix up the cars/tracks too. For example taking rally cars on tracks designed for offroad trucks and buggies.

Will just youtube it and have a look :D
PM me if you don't have the cash, if you got a steam account - I may buy it for ya, feeling generous :) Also no, I won't gift anyone else before everyone starts asking. Sorry guiz =) Just one potentially lucky person todaaaaaay
It was worth the $60 I paid for it for PS3, so yeah.
Are you actually seriously serious?!
HAHAHH NO fuck you, no game for you BWAHHA! I'm only joking, you can haz it :3
It's an alright game, but playing with only keyboard and mouse is hard as hell.
It's an alright game, but playing with only keyboard and mouse is hard as hell.
Yeaah, my mate has a steering wheel and loves it but I have no room :( At least I got a 360 pad to play on which is pretty decent.
i thought dirt2 was a little disappointing the trucks/buggies all feel the same and there are not enough rally type stages, still for that price its worth it cos its fun to play looks really good and is compatible with trackir and d-box. also it runs really well in eyefinity i have all settings at ultra and still get 50fps
At least I got a 360 pad to play on which is pretty decent.
Yeah, I had a friend come over once with a 360 pad and it worked well enough.

However, the cars all feel different to me. Well maybe you mean all the trucks feel the same as other trucks? That I can understand but for me, rallycross cars feel majorly different from rally cars and the same for trucks/buggies.
Defiantly worth the £7.49. Great game. Usually I base spending money on how long I will get enjoyment from the game, and its easily worth twice as much!

Worth it for that price, the races get really repetitive and boring after a while, but still fun. Now they just need to make GRiD2
if it's that cheap, its' got to be
It's much better than GRID too.

Would you guys say there's anything in the Codemasters racing pack that would mean that it's a better idea to buy the whole pack rather than just Dirt 2?
It's an alright game, but playing with only keyboard and mouse is hard as hell.
I just tried the demo. Considering the car completely spazzes out if you use full throttle I don't even know how you'd drive with the keyboard. Having the variable throttle of the 360 trigger is infinitely important to good driving here.
slow down and drive on the inside when you're turning.
You do realise, speed is a key aspect to rallying a good time :P
i got the codemasters race package for 16€. installed Dirt first and it's great fun. i've learned that Dirt and Dirt 2 are very different from eachother but still very alike, looking forward to that. GRID is pure bullshit and people seem to thing FUEL is boring real fast. how is Race Driver 3? it came with the package.
You do realise, speed is a key aspect to rallying a good time :P
then learn how to drift, it's not that hard.
then learn how to drift, it's not that hard.
or do both? of course too much and too little of speed is going to be bad, let's admit.
or do both? of course too much and too little of speed is going to be bad, let's admit.
too much speed while drifting would cause your car to spaz out and maybe do a 180, while too little would just slow you down all together and be worthless.
How is GRID bullshit, GRID is awesome... :colbert:
by personal experience and according to a lot of reviews the feel of driving a real race car is non existent, Acceleration is retarded and you start spinning when you press the accelerate button at the start of every race leading to you driving in circles uncontrollably until you stop trying to turn while accelerating and accept the headfirst dive into the crowd that you need to take to move a few feet. that was my major gripe, i couldn't control it, i uninstalled. i know that's just me and it may be a weird reason, but DiRT just feels miles better.
