Tropico 4 is currently being developed by Haemimont Games (makers of Tropico 3) and will be published by Kalypso Media, like its predecessor. A PC release will be coming in Q2 2011, with a console version being looked into. Not much has been released about Tropico 4 yet, just an announcement and some screens. Apparently, it will feature the following: - Ability to manage imports and exports yourself - Appoint your own ministers to certain departments - New demands and interactions between factions and your people (New demands? New demand-specific buildings? Political trials?) - More global powers in addition to the US and USSR (finally) - Facebook and Twitter integration (I thought we were past that?) Announcement over at Game Informer Here's some screens that have been released. Doesn't look that different from Tropico 3's style but it sure as hell looks pretty! I thoroughly enjoyed killing my citizens in the 3rd one. Great game, highly underrated.
Damn, they really love that empty pool.
Whoa, that new shopping mall looks huge. And so, totally unbuildable on any regular island.
It feels like 3 just came out though.
I hope replayability lasts longer than 3 did

I liked tropico 3 alot so hopefully this will be better.
Good morning Tropico!
playing t3 as i post this I don't like the tourist aspect of the game tbh
The improvements seems pretty cool, but it looks more like Tropico 3.5 They could have just made it another expansion. I suppose they can sell it for more this way.
Fucking rebels burned down my secret police bar in the last one :[
I was really bad at Tropico 3.
Didn't Tropico 3 just come out?
The special edition came out a month or two ago, the expansion about 6 months ago and the game itself was mid/late 09.
I hope it's optimised.
Tropico 3 was good but gets kind of boring when you have a stable country.
Tropico 3 was good but gets kind of boring when you have a stable country.
That's why you kill a few people and get a large military police force
That's what I did from the start of the game, there was no time when I wasn't building my military and executing protesters.
Tropico 4 needs more control tools. Tropico feels very constricted. If i want to kill all the religious faction and the nationalists I should be able to. I'm a fucking dictator. Feels like passive aggressive dictatorship.

Oh boy, Facebook integration! I can imagine it now El Presidente just executed 20 protesters.
Could somone in this thread get me the tropico reloaded pack on steam? its on sale for 1.75 and I would really appreciate it. Times are tough for me and my family right now and I would really appreciate a little distraction. Somone very close to me and my mother passed away...
Psh who kills all the religious people, I just outlawed them. Churches take up valuable military base areas.
But, you can only outlaw one faction. I want total control of my island. The city has too many freedoms even with me very strict.
Yeah, Tropico 3 just didn't really feel like a dictatorship sim to me. More like SimCity with the ability to kill/capture people.
Tropico 3 was fun for a bit, but it really kicked-in when I found the devtools. My military had the option to devour human souls :smug:
I have full religious control, no one could beat me.
I'll buy tropico 4 if it lets me shut up that damn revolutionary radio lady, she got on my nerves so quickly.
I'll buy tropico 4 if it lets me shut up that damn revolutionary radio lady, she got on my nerves so quickly.
You can in Tropico 3:Absolute Power. It's one of the special things you can buy, it stops her from ever speaking again and you won't be attacked by rebels for the next 3 years.
Tropico 3 was great, the only thing I didn't like is the lack of "showing off your power". In the trailer they do military parades and whatnot. I want to do that too, showing off my mighty might.
