Why isn't there a thread for this game yet? Do I always have to do everything by myself?
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction is the fifth installment in the Splinter Cell video game series. The game is being developed by Ubisoft Montreal, developers of Splinter Cell, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory and the sixth generation versions of Splinter Cell: Double Agent.
Splinter Cell: Conviction was originally scheduled for release on November 16, 2007, but has since been the subject of several delays. The latest of these delays occurred on July 27, 2009 when it was announced in Ubisoft's official sales report that the release date was pushed back into the first quarter of 2010.
Not much info about the game yet. Or atleast I couldn't find much, but that video shows the best highlights.

Can't wait, but I can't help but feel that this is going to be a glorified interactive cutscene
They should have made another Chaos Theory.
I like how they render the mission objectives onto the environment, really cool and unique.
"also doors now explode when sam kicks them."
I stopped liking splinter cell when they removed Amon Tobin from the music making.
This is not a Splinter Cell game.
Looks pretty fun and I sure it will be loads better than the absolute failure that was Splinter Cell: Double Agent.

As much as I would love another Chaos Theory, the series needs to evolve while fixing the problems that Ubisoft Shanghai created.
Looks awesome. I can't wait to slam a toilet seat down on someones head.

I hope it raps aswell.
Looks p cool.
I love the whole "Character silhouette" thing.
The brutality reminds me of the Punisher (game)
and man was that fucking awesome.
All the new features make it look fun, but way too easy, like the mark and execute, there is no challenge in that at all. The interrogation looks like it will be really fun though
Don't care if it's different than the other games in the series, it's something new in a market full of the same thing.

I agree, looks piss easy, you're just tagging them and then Sam headshots them automatically.
Well, never really wanted to know what VATS would be like in a Splinter Cell game. But I guess I'll give it a shot.

Maybe you have some sort of "Adrenaline" meter that recharges?
Maybe you can only use that move a few times every level (so you have to use it wisely)
Maybe you can only use it in certain areas.
Isn't this the game that might end up taking as long as Duke Nukem: Forever? Seriously, at the first launch of the current generation of consoles, I remember seeing videos for this, and it's still nowhere near done. Still, Splinter Cell is always fun.

I'm pretty sure it actually got cancelled for a bit.
Seems great, although i really like the Splinter Cell games for the great stealth. Conviction though seems to reduce the Splinter Cell standards for stealth alot. Conviction seems like an awesome action game, but in my opinion, it just doesn't look like a real n stealthy Splinter Cell game.

It got shuffled onto the back-burner for long time. That was back when Sam had a hobo beard and you had to blend into the crowd.
It's good to see that Sam isn't the hulking bald muscular behemoth he was in Double Agent.
I liked the old conviction with the stealth in open areas but looking back on it that's what Assassins Creed's done.
No matter what they call it, I refuse to except this as a Splinter Cell game.
No matter what they call it, I refuse to except this as a Splinter Cell game.
And why's that?
I detested Double Agent but that doesn't not make it a Splinter Cell game.

And it's spelled "accept" not "except". Two completely different words.
I'm going to put myself on the line and say that I enjoyed Double Agent. This looks promising as well.
This can't even be called a stealth game. Splinter Cell doesn't need to be reinvented, we have almost no stealth games and Splinter Cell used to be one of the only good ones. They'd be better off remaking the original Splinter Cell.

Well this is what you're getting so deal with it.
I see no inherent flaws with it other than it's a bit heavier on the action element than on the stealth element.

From what I remember from interviews, they said that you get up to 3 insta-kills at a time, but to recharge them, you need to get stealth kills. Something like two every insta.
Anyway, I really liked the look of the blending thing from the early version. Nice to see the new direction they've gone though.
I for one am very open to what Ubisoft Montreal has in store for the Splinter Cell series because at least they know what they're doing.

The only stealth elements left are so dumbed down

Gee, might have something to do with him not working for Third Echelon any more. No more high tech gadgets.
