So I was talking to my friend, who is gonna get Red Dead Redemption on release day like me, and we're gonna posse up on multiplayer if I could get internet up and running on my xbox. So I asked him how he did it, and he said he just had ethernet hooked up from his router to his XBOX, and that's it. So since I had a spare router and some spare ethernet, I went and tried it. I connected the router to the xbox with the ethernet cable and plugged the router in. I set the IP/subnet mask/DNS/gateway to what it's supposed to be, for a computer and at least, and got nothing. I tried putting the ethernet cable in the internet slot for shits and giggles, and still got nothing. Is there something I'm missing here?
It's a Netgear Wireless-N 300 router.
did you try auto settings just to see if what you put in was wrong?
Another way of getting internet is to bridge your Xbox 360 to one of your computers, it's pretty simple.

Yes.
Also to the dude saying hook it up directly to the PC: I would, but all my computers are very far away. :frown:
Where does the test fail when you try to connect?
Does your router have spare IPs to assign.

It won't even get past obtaining a network.
Does it matter that I use another router for the rest of my network?
