I don't even know what to say... Planetside was the game. I play it today religiously, and even on ten year old tech it's still amazing.
Now I learn that I'm going to be in the beta, and Planetside Next is likely going to be released this year. I'm honestly speechless.
If you have not yet played Planetside, please, at the earliest opportunity, do so. Go download it. Play the trial. It was (is) a masterpiece, and now there's a sequel masterpiece being produced.
I'm setting my hopes very, very high for Planetside Next. If it disappoints, it'll hurt big-time.
By the way, full release will probably be in March (which Smedley all-but admitted in an interview)
As much as I want to get excited for Planetside Next, I just don't trust SOE anymore.

They do have a history of creating amazing games then abandoning them to work on more popular ones. =(
Smedly :argh:
Yeah, he's made some goofy decisions. "Vehicle battles are perfectly balanced."
"Then things are working as intended, Mr. Smedley... Right?"
"Oh, no. Let's toss single-pilot robotic chickens in there which destroy 6+ pilot vehicles easily."
"But..."
"It will be genius!
It's in March this year
I loved Planetside back in the day, a truly great game and a fucking awesome idea which I still can't believe hasn't caught on to this day. Everyone loves a good shooter with non-stop action and huge wars, or to sneak in through the back door and hack your way to victory, Planetside had it all and a platform for many great, similar MMOFPS games to follow but it just never happened, a shame really. Seems everyone would rather pretend to be an elf and go round stabbing dears and pigs in a forest to earn a bit of fake money.
I've drifted away from games since Planetside, not really having time to play them but since Planetside holds a soft spot in my heart I'll definitley be giving this game my spare time, the girlfriend is gonna have to wait for this one.
If any ex-Planetside players had thought about reinstalling and re-subbing then I'll warn you not to bother, it's not even a shadow of it's former self, it's full of hackers and the game isn't worth playing. Keep the memories of Planetside sweet and just waiting for the next installment to pick up where you left off.

Wow you're terrible if you can't bring down a BFR with 2 vehicles or more.

A few decent snipers can bring down a BFR :smug:
even though sam clarke is a caveman, hes right
I always wanted to play Planetside but after the download I had to download 20,000 fucking patches that had a download speed of like 10 kb/s
I hope this ends up being good. I REALLY hope this ends up being good.
I hope the gameplay is basically the same as the old one, but with the broken shit fixed; like the CLIENTSIDE hit registration, a player with insane lag could kill enemies without them even realizing it.
