• How long do you think WoW will last?

When will Blizzard pull the plug? I'm not implying that it's dying or something, just wondering... Or will Blizzard suddenly pull some sort of engine update so it's back up to date with current graphics etc.? Will they keep bringing out new expansions? [editline]01:11PM[/editline] http://www.google.com/insights/search/#q=www.wow-europe.com%2Cwww.worldofwarcraft.com&cmpt=q No extraordinary peaks with the releases of BC and WOTLK
I think it will last a few more years, atleast. I doubt they will stop until it's more of a loss than a profit for them.
Well they can always lower player capacity so it stays profitable...
It'll last forever... :ohdear:
considering warcraft 3 is still popular and thats been around for what, 7 years is it now? i doubt WoW will die off for 15+ years unless they majorly fuck something up
With the difference that it takes a lot less resources to keep WC3 Battle.Net running than the WoW servers...
With the difference that it takes a lot less resources to keep WC3 Battle.Net running than the WoW servers...
But the money they get from WoW is a huge amount.
Yes but subscriptions & active players are declining, but it will still take a while yeah...
As long as they keep adding good content to the game, it will stay very populated. It'll only end due to people not enjoying the content anymore and stopping, or Blizzard stopping. So my guess is at least another 5 years, hopefully much more. But Blizzard have a new MMO in development, so that could deem the fall of WoW.
Who knows maybe it's a sequel where everyone can port their chars... [editline]06:35PM[/editline] Although that would be stupid unless it's some sort of upgrade, if it's wholly new then I'd want everyone to start from scratch
I think they're going to end the whole sargeras story line within the next 2 expansions and then finish the games from the wow universe and concentraite on a new MMO
1 more expansion after cata then their new MMO will be ready to take over. WoW servers will remain online for a further 2 years before being systematically merged until there are none left
i wonder whats going to happen to all the characters when the new MMO is released. all the hours and all the effort that people have put into it. unless you can transfer your character over? who knows?...
Or they could use those for their next MMO, why dump a shitload of those servers lol
i wonder whats going to happen to all the characters when the new MMO is released. all the hours and all the effort that people have put into it. unless you can transfer your character over? who know?...
why would you be able to transfer your character over...
so you could play them in the new game, why else? unless blizzard wants everyone to start from scratch, which is fair enough.
so you could play them in the new game, why else? unless blizzard wants everyone to start from scratch, which is fair enough.
their next mmo isnt anything to do with warcraft...
well i believe there are tilesets or something that gave us a general idea of what the next expansions were, there was something like the emerald dream and the burning legions area left i believe. my guess is the next MMO is either an entirely new universe (i doubt it) or starcraft based
their next mmo isnt anything to do with warcraft...
Awesome, change is always good.
my guess is the next MMO is either an entirely new universe (i doubt it) or starcraft based
do none of you follow blizzard news? the new mmo is something completely new
As gB said: Blizzard have plenty of times stated that their new MMO won't have anything to do with Diablo, Starcraft or Warcraft or anything they've ever worked on. My bet is that it'll be some sort of sci-fi MMO however.
do none of you follow blizzard news? the new mmo is something completely new
not really. but what i just read about it is that its going to be an rpg still, but with elements of a shooter. http://www.blizzardnewmmo.com/
I'm pretty sure if WoW finally does die, they could make Vanilla realms, along with TBC realms.
do none of you follow blizzard news? the new mmo is something completely new
not blizzard in general unfortunately, more what they've already released
i read something about WoW going to level 100, much like D2's 99 maybe i'm wrong
Yeh they are going to 100 I think. That's why Cataclysm is 85 rather than 90. Also, I like the Warcraft universe, I don't want it to go.
i wonder whats going to happen to all the characters when the new MMO is released. all the hours and all the effort that people have put into it. unless you can transfer your character over? who knows?...
When WoW dies the characters die also. Take Matrix online, that officially dead, the plug has been pulled. Ultima Online isn't too far off dissapearing also.
It'll be weird when it shuts down.
You guys have to remember that blizzard seem to be releasing a new expansion every year. So it is extremely hard to tell, the new expansions keep people interested, but they can also make people quit.. So yeah I'm not sure, could be like 15+ more years, could be less.
It will peak for around 4 years more, and then retain a fanbase much like diablo 2
