While this is ideal (other than some general fun and non disruptive mods that OP might enjoy), multiplayer comes with some issues. Most importantly, if this server is going to be survival and not creative, with no cheated resources, theft is a problem. I would say to simply hide your chests, but this is not really feasible given the prominence of x-ray mods (mods that allow you to see through walls to find certain blocks, such as chests).

I recommend a mod (I used to know of two) that lets players lock chests.
