A Dead Space 2 viral campaign launching this weekend took plenty of chutzpah, I’ll give it that. Electronic Arts brought in 200 middle-aged mothers under the auspices of a focus group looking at a new game. They were, aptly, horrified.
Four videos that released yesterday show mums walking into a conference room where they’re greeted by a disembodied voice and a video monitor. They then watched some of the worst Dead Space 2 has to offer. All of this goes into a campaign called “Your mum Hates Dead Space 2.” Which implies you’re going to love it.
I cringed throughout the four one-on-one videos, not because of what they were watching but because put-ons like this involving unsuspecting victims always make me feel a little bad for them. I was always the guy hanging up before someone could tell me whether or not his refrigerator was running.
But the mums are tough ladies. They take it like pros and it seems their disgust for the game is genuine (well, Celestine, “No. 0124″ seems to bear it in a slasher-flick/rollercoaster way.)
it will contain the game disc in a special package, and comes with a CD containing the soundtrack of the game, a lithograph depicting the transformation process of the Necromorphs to give you nightmares, and a card containing exclusive DLC.

Dead Space 2 game
• Downloadable Unitology Suit and Force Gun, providing Isaac with unique benefits when used in Dead Space 2.
• Dead Space 2 Original Soundtrack on CD; features an hour of music compiled from the game's score.
• Concept art lithograph depicting Necromorph transformation by Visceral Games artist Brett Marting.
• Replica of Isaac’s trusty Plasma Cutter, modeled from the new design from Dead Space 2.
Copied from www.webhallen.se/ Should be the same in everywhere else in europe.
Based on a true story, clears things up nicely.

Doesn't really look worth it.
Oh well, if I see it around I'll buy it. I have a feeling I won't see it in the stores around here though. :sigh:
In the first video:
"Fire, it's very fireful"
What.

It would be nice if before making a thread you would atleast try to make a effort of seeing if someone has made a thread like that before.

I looked through 3 pages of previous pages on general game discussion, didn't even think it would be in the video section.

Go back to oify already.
I don't get it? It's a mature game, yet their advertising campaign suggests they're marketing it to kids? I'm pretty sure people who are old enough to buy it themselves would give a shit what their mum thought about it and especially wouldn't think something is cool just because their mum doesn't like it.
Unless they're man/woman babies.

It's more of a joke to draw attention to their product, a publicity stunt.
Ratings have never stopped kids from getting games in the past.
These are incredibly stupid and unfunny videos.
I had a lot of fun with Dead Space though.

I liked seeing the reaction of the mothers.
Well, these were obvious reactions. Why the hell would any mom like a game like this?

My mom loves Dead Space..
I had to borrow it from her to play it!
