Supreme Commander (From now on I'll refer to it as SC) is a RTS developed by Gas Powered Games (GPG). It is considered by many as the spiritual successor to Chris Taylor's (Head of GPG) Total Annihilation. the game was released on February 16, 2007 in Europe and February 20, 2007 in North America. A standalone expansion, Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance, was released on November 6 of the same year.
You may ask "What makes this so interesting?" Well, The biggest part is its scale, as the biggest maps are 81x81 Kilometers, Another is its Zoom feature, Now you may be wondering whats so special about a zoom Feature? Well For one thing you could zoom out so much that you could see the entire map, or zoom in until you can only see one tree.
In SC There are Four Tech Levels T1, T2, T3 and T4 as you might Guess T1 Units are weak enough to be killed in one shot while T4 units are Classified as Experimentals Which are unbelievably strong super units, Which range from a Mobile Battleship on tank treads, To Super Nukes.

Oh fuck you D2D You gave me the same Cd key as the last time I bought SC
Never managed to get bored of this game. Can't wait for SC2
Worst thing is that it's got some big issues with sound. It doesn't like to play any sound on my computer unless I use Windows XP.
So buying SC 2
Love SC, still play it almost daily with my friends. Can't wait for SC-2.
Fatboy owns your soul.
Got turned off by the community and the kind of overpowered Cybran experimentals. I mean those things were cheap as hell and they tore shit away fast

Ya, they don't cost much but I wouldn't say there overpowered.
They can do a lot of damage pretty quickly, but when it comes to to taking on other experimentals they fail without numbers to back them up.
Just showing you how awesome this game is:

Fuck year UEF. Gabe Newells (Fatboys) will roll over your base.

Indeed, with the Aeon, its possible to have just 2 Galactic Colossi stave off a relatively constant stream of Cybran Experimentals, and with the UEF, their base defenses and fat boy are god-like if you use them properly.
Also the Omen-class is the best battleship in the game, when paired up with the Aeon Missile Ship, watch the enemy crumble.
You should have done a thread on SupCom2, mage.
What's the best way to get straight up to building the experimental super-nuke? I've never really seen any Experimentals.

In a proper match with friends (serious playing) I've never really had the time to build the UEF super artillery cannon thing nor the normal nuke.

Uh, you would probably be dead or have won before then.
But lets say you do get there: Start with 1 factory, 1 mass, 1 power, 1 mass, 1 power, all while your factory is teching to level 3. Once done, build some better power and mass, start production on the experimental. Of course you will need an ally to back you up or you would be totally fucked over. But that is THE fastest way of getting to tech level 3, and in turn getting the nuke.
You can also add in a few power and mass when your factory starts teching to level 3, but do NOT start making more before its level 2.

Hell no the fucking Fatboy can kick the Monkeylord's ass one on one, seriously i've done that.
I love stuffing the giant UFO of the Aeon with tons of interceptors and just watch them pour out of it

That thing dies to fast.
I find this game awful. It's a normal, bland RTS and the 'huge units' aren't huge, there's no reference scale, they're actually half an inch tall for all we know. Those trees are bits of mold.
Give me cities and things to fight in, not rolling hills, empty islands and fields.
I sold it to somebody who loves it, so everybody's happy now.
I do however love how Opposing Opinion = Dumb on Facepunch.
So you are saying the only reason you hate it is because its units have to no size reference, and no big city maps?
You: :downs:
I bought the Supreme Commander Gold bundle on Direct2Drive for $5 along with Dawn of War: Dark Crusade.

I looked around about the sound issues and found Core Maximizer, it is supposed to help with the sound issues if you have a multi-core processor.

It's gameplay is also about as in depth as Total Annihilation, hardly up to modern standards. The other things just make it more annoying. Spend 45 minutes building a small base and army so you can move them all towards the enemy small army and they can fire bland lasers at each other until one army has blown up.
I just bought it on D2D. Its gonna take forever to download.......

Modern standards? Whats that? Oh you mean YOUR standards.
Also, if it takes you 45 minutes to set up a small base you are doing something really, really wrong.
Most games I play take 20 minutes max to resolve.

My standards? So are modern standards well below "Have some degree of tactics involved in combat"?
Ah forget it, I'll leave the thread for people who actually want to talk about playing the game.

Supreme Commander is about the only RTS where you can actually win without spamming. I doesn't mean spamming isn't around, but you CAN win without doing it. Unlike almost every other RTS. That is just one example on how it has more tactics involved then most RTS games.
