Half Life 2 failing.... - Games

I got the compleate half life pack and i cant get any Half Life or Half life 2 to go. I've already made athread about HL1 but now when i start HL2 it gets to the end of the loading when i go 'new game' and then my computer restarts..EVERY TIME!!!! so I want it plain and simple whats wrong.

We need specs of your computer, your operating sys, your temperatures, and 5$.

add this to launch options (Click on hl2, go to properties, launch options) -dxlevel 70 -heapsize 256000 -novid if that works, try dxlevel 80 then 81 and if it crashes on 90 then you aren't supported for dx9. which is sad.

I'm thinking I just need a new computer. This one is getting really slow. it has 2 gig ram. ati radeon something graphics card. 1.99GHz. 39 gig hard drive(I know its low)17 gig free.

Start menu -> -dxdiag -> copy and paste here.

There's nothing wrong with your computer's specs. I played HL2 fine on a computer like that. I guess your XP setup is somewhat broken, try installing current drivers for your video card. It sounds like a graphics card problem, Try updating it?, I had this when my drivers were old.

I played HL2 on a MX 440 before, his graphics card isn't the problem.

This happened to me before. i updated every thing i could and then i Redownloaded hl2 and restarted my computer and it worked perfect! please reply if that dident work

It will get up to the bit with the "HALFLIFE 2" in white then crash. And my HL1 don't work yet as well. But the mods i have for the game do work -Synergy -Zombiepanic source I also half HL2DM and it works fine minus the lag I get at times cause of ping issues. I've tried all the stuff suggested and still to no availe.
