I have a reasonable idea of what Mojang's other game may be - Games

Back in early July, shortly after a new Friday Update had been released (or shortly before, I can't remember), Notch was talking to those present in the IRC and answering our loads of questions. Remember - even if this is the game Mojang is working on, this is info from July. The specifics might've changed by now. At one point he mentioned the new game idea he had and planned to work on under Mojang. He said it would be based off of Minecraft's base, and it would be in space. The rest I was able to snag a screencap of. [img]http://cheetocommunity.xsjefkex.com/upload/users/Andokool12/woot.png[/img] Although we're all looking forward to the new game, something like this appeals to me more than anything (I think), being a Freelancer and EVE fan. Discuss. Oh and sorry it took me so long to tell anybody about this. I posted in on my community's Minecraft boards way back when it happened and forgot about it once the thread died down. Whatever, still something interesting.

Minecraft in Space would be the most epic game ever. It would literally be infinite.

Something like Moonbase Alpha but with mining would be hilarious.

What he means by that could mean anything from actual blocks everywhere to maybe simply using the same engine. And derp even it were Minecraft, your comment is still dumb. Space. You'd be in a ship. Ships have mining lasers. Not that hard to figure out.

Minecraft in space would be awesome if you could have a ship and fly to and from block shaped planets. Oh, and destroying planets too. That would be awesome.

It would be good to start off on one planet then grow yourself to be able to take over other.

Notch has the potential to make this next level. He's a good coder, and if he steps into the MMO market with an eve-competitor that is more like Freelancer, he's onto a winner as he can market it to the minecraft-audience as well as his general fans. If he makes it reasonably priced, even better. Regardless, he's one of the biggest successes I've ever seen from an indie developer, an MMO would make him set for life monetarily.

He doesn't have to ever move his ass again, if he doesn't want to. Over a million people bought the game already, and even if all bought it for the cheapest price of 5EUR (which many of them already didn't), he made over 5 million euro. That's well enough to cover somebody for their whole life.

It would be awesome if planets were cylindrical and had gravity like the real thing and you could build starships of materials that you find on spawn planet.

Still haven't gotten any smarter have ya? Anyways, minecraft in space would've been awesome, but I doubt that it's minecraft. It's not notch who's making it, it's this other guy, who's already got an idea.

It's not Minecraft, but typically Devs use a lot of the same basic ideas. From what I've seen of Notch's other works, his ideas are good.
