A Long time ago, in a gal- wait wrong thread
Now about 8 years ago one game came out. The name was Jak and Daxter after that, another game came out called Jak 2, and soon later. the finale came with Jak 3. Since then, this series has a very special place in my heart and will always, to me anyway, best the best games ever.

But the warp gates of the other Sages are broken so Jak and Daxter have to go on foot to reach Gol...

Jak II: Renegade -
Lost in a misterious city, far from home. Two years in a cold, dark prison cell. Dominated to sadistic experiments, his body tortured by Dark Eco.
But Jak is back! And he wants revenge!
Jak II is the second game in the Jak and Daxter trilogy. In this game Jak and his buddy Daxter moved the Precursor Ringto Samos' lab and our 2 hero, samos and keira are going to try it out. After pushing on a button the Precursor Ring starts moving and little beasts come flying out, followed by a bigger beast. Jak pushes on another button and launches himself and his 3 friends into the Ring. When Jak and Daxter come back out they are in a whole other place and time, a few men in red armor step up to Jak and take him with them. Daxter manages to escape, but Jak goes in prison and Baron Praxis does all kind of Dark Eco experiments on our hero.
After 2 years Daxter get's into the prison and finds Jak who just had an experiment. On the moment Daxter tries to get Jak loose, Jak turns into Dark Jak, a power that Jak doesn't control. The 2 escape from the fortress and start their journey to find Samos and Keira and get back home...
Jak 3 -
First a hero, now a criminal. Thrown in the burning Wastelands and left to die. But now, equiped with new Light Powers, Jak will return once again!
After Jak defeated the Metal Head Leader in Jak II, Haven City get's involved in an other war. It seems the strongest Metal Heads survived and now they can find their way into the city again. And if that's not worse enough, there is someone building new KG-Robots who terrorise the city. Off course, the people in the city have to blame somebody, and it's the one who saved their lives who get's the fault. Jak get's blamed because of his earlier connections with Krew and his dark eco manipulation. He get's thrown out of the city into the harsh Wastelands. At the same time, a new guy tries to take the throne of Haven City, Count Vegar, and he is very happy to see Jak leave...
Eco
Eco is the lifeblood of the Jak and Daxter world, the tool of the Precursors in creating new worlds. There are six different kinds of Eco, all of which have a specific purpose.
Green Eco - Green Eco contains the power of healing and growing things. From curing Dark eco plants to Jak's health
Blue Eco - Blue Eco contains the energy of motion, in other words, speed. in Jak 1, it made him run faster, however in jak2/3 the blue eco gun is the fastest shooting rate gun.
Red Eco - Red Eco increases the user's strength, making it possible to slay more poweful enemies in a single blow. It is not found in jak 2/3 but the red eco gun does the most damage
Yellow Eco - Yellow Eco, a more long-range offensive weapon than Red Eco, allows Jak (in jak 1) to shoot fireballs from his palms that home in on enemies. it is not found in Jak 2/3 however the yellow eco gun is the longest range weapon
Dark Eco - With its ability to warp and mutate, Dark Eco is considered the most dangerous kind of Eco. When Jak is experimented on with dark eco, he can collect it to turn himself into a more powerful verion of himself called Dark Jak for a short period of time.
Light Eco - The rarest of all Eco, Light Eco can occur naturally in vents, or can be created artifically by combining Green, Blue, Red, and Yellow Eco.
---------------Jak 2 onwards---------------
Jak Forms -
Jak can turn into two forms. Dark Jak and Light Jak.
Dark Jak

At the time Baron Praxis was losing against the Metal Heads and everybody was losing his hope, the Baron came up with a new idea: The Dark Warrior Program. Together with Erol he found out some 'experiments' with Dark Eco, now he would only need someone who would be tested. Jak was the lucky winner to try out the new program...
Praxis tries his experiments out on Jak, but even after Jak get's the Eco pumped into his body for multiple times, nothing happened, for as far they knew.....
But Jak had some side effect... He can now stand little amounts of Dark Eco in his body and when he get's mad, he can change into Dark Jak.
Light Jak

When Jak finds his way in the Monk Temple, he ends up by the biggest Oracle he ever saw.
The big statue starts talking about a great hero and grants Jak Light Eco powers. Once he has seen the light, Jak can collect little Eco clusters and change into Light Jak if his meter is full.

Weapons
The main weapon apart from your fists and legs is called the Morph gun.
the morph gun has 4 different mods, each with their strengths and weaknesses.
The Scatter Gun

The Scatter Gun is the shotgun. It has a short but wide range. Another disadvantage is that the reloading time is pretty long.
You begin with 50 ammo. With each upgrade you get more ammo (75 ammo, 100 ammo )
Upgrades
Wave Concussor: Creates a blast around Jak. Uses 10 ammo when fully loaded
Plasmite RPG: A Grenade Launcher. Uses 10 ammo a shot
The Blaster

The Blaster is the rifle from Jak 3 and is probably the best gun from the game. It has a really long range and has a very fast reload time.
You start with 100 ammo. With each upgrade you get more ammo (125 ammo, 150 ammo )
Upgrades
Beam Reflector: The bullets rebound if it hits a wall. Uses 1 ammo every time it hits a wall (max 4).
Gyro Burster: Shoots a disc in the air which fires all enemies. Uses 50 ammo a disc.
The Vulcan Fury

The Vulcan Fury is a Machine Gun. This gun can fire at high speed with a long range and good damage. Disadvantage is that your ammo runs out quickly.
You start with 100 ammo. With each upgrade you get more ammo (125 ammo, 200 ammo )
Upgrades
Arc Wielder: Shoots a beam of electricity. Uses more ammo then regular gun.
Needle Lazer: Shoots little weak bullets which always hit an enemy, even if they stand behind you. Uses 3 ammo a shot.
The Peacemaker

When powered up it can kill multiple enemies with one shot. The disadvantage is that it takes a long time to power up completely and you have ridiculous little ammo capacity.
You start with 5 ammo. With each upgrade you get more ammo (10 ammo, 15 ammo )
Upgrades
Mass Inverter: Keeps every enemy in the air, letting you take them out easy. Uses 1 ammo a shot.
Super Nova: When fired, the screen turns white and every enemy is destroyed, Uses 10 ammo a shot.
Transport
Vehicles play a huge and when i say huge, i mean HUGE role in the Jak games. This goes from transport vehicles, vehicles with guns to even hover boards, here are a couple of different sorts you can use
Haven City Vehicles
Haven City is the home of many people in the jak universe, and where there is a big city, everyone has something to drive in. In Jak 2/3, they all fly above the ground and you can hijak them in a GTA4-esqe style. These range from zoomers(Bikes) to Car-like-things.

Wasteland Vehicles
The Wasteland only appears in Jak 3 and it is a massive desert, the marauders use different junk they find around to make vehicals for different terrains and uses from the Sand Shark which has attached machine guns on it, to the dune hopper which can leap off the ground to great hights

Other Vehicles
The Jak series has a trademark of odd things you can ride. sometimes gliders, Mech suits, even a lizard/dinosaur looking thing called leapers.

Spin-off games:
The Jak series, due to popular demand have made 2 spin off games, Jak X: Combat Racing and Daxter
Jak X: Combat Racing

Jak X is a racing game similar to the mario kart series except with more bad ass, however, the aim remains the same. Come first and kill the competition. This game takes place After the Jak series where Krew (If you play the second game, you know who he is) poisons you and the other heroes to race for him.
Daxter

Daxter is a spin-off where you play as...you guessed it! DAXTER! This game takes place during the 2 years between the Jak group into the future and the experimentation on Jak. Daxter becomes a bug exterminator around Haven City as he tries to find out where Jak is. Daxter is the only game in the Jak Series which is on the PSP.
Coming soon...Wait what?:
THATS RIGHT! You probably didnt hear this here first but if you did... you heard it here first! Another Jak game is in production and is announced to be released later this year!!! However, this game isnt made by Naughty dog and instead is made by High Impact games
heres is a bit of info on Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier
The story will pick-up shortly after Jak 3. Keira has set out on some sort of spirit quest (to become a Sage, apparently) and the duo are trying to figure out how to fix the sudden Eco shortage along the world, which seems to be making the remaining Eco more unstable leading to storms and also slowly kill the planet. A device called the Eco Core will tell them what the problem with the Eco is and a device called the Eco Seeker will allow them to find it. Traveling to the 'Brink' of the universe (or world, otherwise it'd be flat, or a globe with a big hole), the last place the Precursors didn't finish which is filled with nothingness and half-completed areas. The area has an insane amount of Dark Eco, this reacts to Jak in a dangerous way. Changing into Dark Jak (and presumably Light Jak) is incredibly painful and can kill him.
The game seems to begin with Eco pirates attacking Jak's Hellcat on the way to the Brink, while Daxter manages to gun down one of the ships, the third harpoons the Hellcat. Captain Phoenix and an unnamed pirate drop onto the Hellcat and after they demand Eco a fight begins. The unnamed pirate is tipped over the side by Keira tilting the Hellcat and Jak falls on his back. He tries unsuccessfully to go Dark but is prevented by the chaotic nature of Eco near the Brink. Daxter chases Phoenix off with the Tailgun but damages the Hellcat forcing them to land due to a fuel leak.
There's a small town in the game named Far Drop, it has a big gold statue of the leader of the Eco pirates in the middle and is mainly controlled by the pirates. It's located inside an underground cavern.
Oh my god yes, I loved the original trilogy. It took me about ½ a year to finish the boss fight in Jak 3.
Crap, cheesy, overrated and cliche series.
Playstation section???
-snip-
Playstation section???
What playstation section, i dont see no playstation section. you should have your eyes checked :crossarms:
Crap, cheesy, overrated and cliche series.
:fuckoff:
:byewhore:
emotes are funny
I played Jak and Daxter and Jak II, but I have to say I thought Jak and Daxter was way better. It was really smooth, just jumping around, solving little puzzles, funny cutscenes.
Crap, cheesy, overrated and cliche series.
That may be, but that's just why it's so damn loved. The cheese is a deep part of the game anyway. Well, Daxters character at least.
I played all the main storyline ones, enjoyed them all (didn't like the first one quite as much, but still played it). Good to know there is a sequel.
First was only good one.
Ah, I remember this game.
Nostaglia'd, I loved Jak 2 and 3 never played Jak and daxter.
I have 3 on my ps2
I used to love it :D
My most loved Ps2 games. My first game among Tekken. on the Ps2
The first 2 were by far the best IMO. I loved Jak & Daxter.
I can't remember if I finished it or not, the game was just so damn long.
you know... making this thread has made be realize how much i missed it *tears*
im going to hook up my ps2 again and play all 3 games
I only own 3 so I might start playing again.
Wow, the new one looks horrid, I mean, years later and the cutscenes actually look worse than Jak 2.
I have the original. Never really played the other two, I didn't really care for his sudden hardass look.
Great series. My favorite was the first game, they really go in a different direction with the other two, but they are still great games.
Completed the first two games (100% on the first one) but haven't completed the third, I should play it again.
Wow, the new one looks horrid, I mean, years later and the cutscenes actually look worse than Jak 2.
What? You mean the Lost Frontier?
Maybe... it's because it's on the PSP? :iiam:
Anyways, never played the Jak series. Know a lot of people who practically swear it as the best PS2 game ever. I should go hunting for some old copies sometime.
(Oh yeah, and the "Playstation" section is here.)
I miss this series so much
Jak 2 is fucking hard
I have no idea how I beat that game twice, the mission where you need to destroy the explosive robots is really fucking hard
My god I loved these games. Played through them all at least twice before I moved on from my PS2.
Jak 2 is fucking hard

Oh fuck, oh fuck, why did you bring that mission up.
I never finished Jak 2 or 3. I hated the sudden transition from "light-hearted platformer" to "GTA"
I think the series was well off for having birthed Jak 3. I loved the game.
What? You mean the Lost Frontier?

Still though, I've seen early playstation 2 games with better graphics than the pre-rendered video from that game, it looks amateur and almost fan made. The characters don't even look right, only Daxter does.
These games are fucking badass.
I still have them. Jak 3 is incredibly fun.
And since it wasn't mentioned in the OP, they're also freeroam. So in Jak 2 and 3, you can go all over the maps (which are actually very big, especially for a PS2 game) and do whatever. You can start a fight against the Crimson Guard, and they'll keep coming at you until you either die, or you either run or steal a vehicle and get the fuck away. You can also hide, like you can run round a corner and back up against a wall or something and they'll run right past you.
Since it's also not in the OP, I figure I'll do a monster listing to be added.
Jak and Daxter had loads of monsters. You don't get guns or the like.

They're all along the lines of this type of monster. As you can see, it's usually a very bright cheery atmosphere as well. Although there are some dark and dangerous places, and the terrain changes a lot towards the end of the game.
Jak 2

The crimson guard are neutral around the city, although there are times where they'll shoot you on sight (restricted areas, etc.) and as I said, you can start fights with them in the city if you want as well.
The metalheads are common enemies as well.

There are other types as well.
Jak 3 has very similar monsters to that of Jak 2.
There are bosses as well.
In Jak and Daxter, there are loads of different monster bosses, they're dark eco creatures that are bigger than your average monster.
Jak 2's bosses are usually the Baron. He's the leader of Haven City. He uses different machines to combat you.

The baron with his second in command, Erol. You fight him multiple times in Jak 3.
Jak 3 has loads of different bosses, most very different.

I think it'd be nice to see the changes in scenery as well.
Jak and Daxter

As you can see, a nice bright scenery.
Jak 2

Using the Crimson Guard image because it's the best example of the city I can find.

The outside of the city has become quite different from as it was before.
Jak 3's cities are very similar to that of Jak 2, but with the wastelands added. Basically a desert, where you can take cars out to drive around in. Proper cars, not the hover ones from the city.
Crap, cheesy, overrated and cliche series.
You shut your goddamned face
These games fucking rocked.
Also great thread. The one thing I missed from the sequels was the ability to channel all sorts of eco and not just light and dark.
those pics are too fucking small
