How do you get VAC banned or just flat-out banned from using your account? - Games

Can Steam just ban your account and never allow you to use it again even if you've NEVER cheated on any servers? What are the ranges for VAC ban, like how can you get VAC banned except cheating on servers? Ok, the reason I'm asking this is I'm getting tired of the random weapons (6 dupe, that's a fucking joke) I'm getting on TF 2 and I'm about to try SAM (Steam Achievement Manager) to get all the weapons. Really, if I use SAM or other such programs on steam, will they ban me? If so, will there be warnings? If they really do ban you for using SAM or other programs to unlock achievements for TF 2 (since it's the only game that I have that needs achievements for unlockables), then i guess bundling all the precious games on 1 account is flat-out stupid.

As long as SAM doesn't fuck around with the .dll's you will be fine.

Unlockers are stupid, when you work hard to get the unlockables, using them feels better because you know you have earned that weapon through *hard* work.

They don't ban for SAM I've reseted my achievements about 3 times, And unlocked the tiers when the unlock system still worked with them

If you get VAC banned in TF2 you'll get banned in all games using the source engine. I'm pretty sure ArmA II isn't on the source engine, so a VAC ban wouldn't affect it.

go to an achievement server, and type !achieveall babam. or !milestones

Used SAM for TF2 and for KF. No VAC ban, No item loss.

No, they won't.

VAC simply monitors the hl2.exe (or tf2.exe or l4d.exe) files while they are running. If the exe's are modified (changing values of memory addresses on the clientside to cheat ) then VAC [b]will[/b] detect it and ban the account.

i unlocked all the achivements, then locked them all again to get them properly, i hate achivement farming servers, i say just get the achivements yourself, take it from me, some one who has done it your way, it's much better to get them yourself.

Modifying game Dynamic-Link Libraries, editing game memory while the game is running, are the two most common ways of getting VAC banned.
